Raising a Prodigal Child

TEN & TWO | Ep. 22 — Raising a Prodigal Child

Guests: Pastors Frank & Kathleen Nevarez, C3 Cottonwood (Cottonwood, AZ) Every parent who has raised a child knows the ache of watching them make choices you can't control. For Pastors Frank and Kathleen Nevarez, that ache came with a unique weight — leading a church while watching their own son, Daniel, walk away from the faith they'd built their home on.

In this episode, Frank and Kathleen open up about the years Daniel spent wrestling with addiction, identity, and distance from God — and the harder, quieter years they spent choosing to keep loving him without losing themselves in the process. They share what it costs to shepherd a congregation while your own household feels like it's unraveling and what prayer actually looked like when hope felt thin. This isn't a tidy story. It's a real one — about a father and mother who refused to stop believing, and a son who found his way home (and now in ministry). Whether you're currently in the middle of your own waiting season or watching someone you love drift, this conversation is for you.

Main Scripture: Luke 15:11–24 — the father who watches, waits, and runs.

Watch Daniel's testimony

Raising Saints: The Story Behind Our Homeschool Decision

We didn't set out to homeschool. In this episode, we get honest about our hesitations, the turning point that changed our minds, and why we now believe taking an active role in our kids' education is one of the most important things we can do as parents.

We also share the story behind Saints Classical Academy — a new tutorial we launched in partnership with Holy Saints Church, hosted at our building in Spring Hill, to come alongside families who want to raise their kids in truth and wisdom, together in community.

In this episode:

Why we were hesitant to homeschool at first

The revelation that shifted how we think about training and equipping our kids

How Southview Church and Holy Saints Church partnered to start Saints Classical Academy, hosted at our Spring Hill campus

What it looks like to actively partner in your children's discipleship and education

If you've ever wrestled with the decision to homeschool — or wondered what it actually looks like to disciple your kids at home — this conversation is for you.

Subscribe for new episodes of TEN & TWO, and let us know your own story in the comments.

The War Over Family (Live Mother's Day Episode)

The War Over Family | Sunday Sermon

There is a real war being waged right now — and the front line is your family.

Family wasn't man's idea. It was God's first institution. Before there was a nation, a temple, or even a church, there was a family. And the enemy has known from the beginning that if he can fracture the family, he can fracture everything downstream of it — the church, the community, and the next generation's view of God Himself.

In this message, we trace the war back to its origin in Genesis 3:15, and we expose the four-pronged strategy the enemy is running against the seed of the woman in 2026:

1. NO SEED — Don't get married. 2. KILL THE SEED — Abortion. 3. LIMIT THE SEED — Fewer or no children.4. NEGLECT THE SEED — Broken families and fatherlessness.

This isn't a physical war. It's a spiritual one. And we don't fight it with the weapons of the flesh — we fight it with the weapons of heaven (2 Corinthians 10:3–6).

By the end of this message, you'll walk away with a clear three-step path to winning the war in your own home: 🔹 Identify the root 🔹 Change your heart, change your perspective 🔹 Model the hope

This isn't a culture-war message. It's a heart-change message. Wherever you are — single, married, parenting, grandparenting, or somewhere in the middle — God has a position for you in this fight. And the church needs every generation to step into it.

📖 KEY SCRIPTURES

Genesis 3:15

Revelation 12:17

2 Corinthians 10:3–6

Deuteronomy 6:6–7

📌 IN THIS MESSAGE

The original battle in the Garden — and why it was always about the seed

How smartphones, pornography, and screens are quietly dismantling the home

The post-Dobbs reality — over 1.1 million abortions in 2025

What our generation was told about marriage and family — and the lies we have to unlearn

Why fatherlessness is the wound under the wound

A blessing and a charge to every generation in the room — grandparents, parents, and the rising generation

🎙 ABOUT TEN AND TWO TEN and Two is a family-rooted ministry calling this generation back to the beauty of the Gospel, the strength of the family, and the hope of revival. We believe Godly families are not optional — they are the front line.
