Episode 65: Albert, You're Just Along For The Ride
Gregg shares what happened on October 1st, when Tucker, his service friend and the dog that saved his life, was put to rest. It was the hardest day he's had in a long time, and in a strange way it was also the easiest, because he got to do it his way, in the time he needed. He walks you through it, including two moments with Tucker he'll remember for the rest of his life.
Then comes the day after. The grief didn't arrive as one big wave. It came as little ambushes, and each one brought anxiety with it. That's where Albert comes in. If you've never heard of naming your brain, this episode explains why Gregg did it, how it puts a little air between you and the noise, and exactly what he says when Albert starts to spiral: "This is not how we do it anymore, and you're not in charge. You're just along for the ride."
Along the way, Gregg looks at a simple promise he's been turning over all week, that we'll come to intuitively know how to handle situations that used to baffle us. He also offers a practical test for telling a calm inner knowing apart from a loud, spinning brain.
If you're carrying a loss of your own, or you're anxious about something you can't control, this one is for you. You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to get through the next hour, and be kind to whoever is talking in your head while you do.

Sixty-four episodes in, and Gregg checks himself against something real instead of just saying he's fine: the old acronym H-O-W. Honest. Open-minded. Willing.
Honest means asking Tucker's vet the question he'd been avoiding — "Is it time, doc?" — and getting the answer he already knew in his gut. Open-minded means sitting with a hard truth even when it's coming from inside your own head, like a Google interview he was sure he nailed, until his gut told him otherwise days before the official word came. Willing means actually moving on what you find — selling furniture that was never really about furniture, and making the hardest call yet: a home euthanasia appointment, now set for October 1st.
This one also gets honest about staying stuck — on the house, on the job search — and about a mistake: Episode 62 got recorded on time but never published, until a friend caught it days later.
Not a clean episode. Three better questions instead of three easy answers.

Episode 62: I forgot to publish; Showing Up Without Knowing
Three hours before this episode was due, Gregg had nothing. Not writer's block — anxiety, the spinning kind. Instead of smoothing it over, he decided to just say it out loud and see what happened.
What follows is a real-time breakdown of a tool that actually worked: instead of asking "what's going wrong," Gregg asked himself "what's NOT going wrong" — and found real, concrete wins waiting underneath the spiral. A sold table. A sold mower. A sold bedroom set. And right behind them, the itty bitty shitty committee trying to stage a comeback, working overtime to turn progress into loss.
Plus: why anxiety showing up isn't a personal attack, what it means to treat it like weather instead of a verdict, and why the job was never to stop it from showing up — just to decide what happens next.
This episode also touches on something Gregg wants to be upfront about: recovery isn't only about addiction. 42-plus years sober, and still, anxiety is its own long, separate fight — one serious enough that there's an entire magazine on newsstands devoted to nothing else.
