   Ep. 132: The Doctrine of Salvation / Sanctification—Becoming More Like Jesus

   In today's episode of the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're continuing in a new category of our Delighting in Doctrine study — the Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology). Today, we’re defining and quickly discussing sanctification—the process of becoming more like Jesus. Discussion Guide: Summarize the biblical truth shared in this lesson in 1-2 sentences. Define sanctification. Read Philippians 1:6. What does this passage say about the sanctification process? Read the following passages and note the different instructions given to us about our upward growth in Christ: Romans 6:1-4 Romans 12:1-2 Ephesians 4:17-24 Philippians 2:12-13 Colossians 3:1-10 Hebrews 12:1-2 Take a moment to review your responses above. Then, write a summary paragraph of all you read and learned. Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 and Hebrews 5:11-14. What did Paul and the writer of Hebrews say to Christians who were not progressing? Have you been through seasons where your spiritual growth was stagnant? What caused it? How did you finally move forward? Explain how vital a local church-centered life is to spiritual maturity and growth. Define glorification. ACTIVITY: How's your journey going? On a separate sheet of paper, draw a line graph of your sanctification journey from your conversion to today. Label your graph with specific events or years as you see fit. Would you say that the trajectory of your spiritual life is upward growth? Explain. What needs to change for you to keep growing in Christ? How does this text-driven truth affect the way you live everyday life? What does this teach you about man? What does this teach you about God? Intentional Prayer: Thank God for His constant work in your life to sanctify you. Ask Him to show you ways you need to grow and mature to be more like Jesus.    Ep. 131: The Doctrine of Salvation / Justified Through Jesus Alone

   In today's episode of the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're continuing in a new category of our Delighting in Doctrine study — the Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology). Read Scripture: Romans 3 Discussion Guide: Summarize the biblical truth shared in this lesson in 1-2 sentences. Read Romans 3:9-20. What did Paul say about all people? Do most people you know take sin seriously? Why or why not? Do you take sin seriously? Have you ever had a hard time reconciling God's righteousness and justice with His mercy and grace? Do you think these are opposite concepts? Why or why not? According to Romans 3:19-20, what condemns us? Read Romans 1:18-20 and 2:12-16. What do these passages make clear about our guilt before God? Read Romans 3:21-26. Note the key phrases and explain in your own words the great saving work of God. What do some people want to stand on to justify themselves? Read Romans 3:27-31. What did Paul say we are justified by? How does this text-driven truth affect the way you live everyday life? What does this teach you about man? What does this teach you about God? Intentional Prayer: Thank God for declaring you righteous through Jesus. Thank Jesus for providing the needed satisfaction for God's judgment so that you could have a right relationship with Him.    Ep. 130: The Doctrine of Salvation / Repent and Believe

   In today's episode of the Text-Driven Women Podcast, we're continuing in a new category of our Delighting in Doctrine study — the Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology). We’re answering several questions: What is repentance? What is faith? What is required for salvation? Discussion Guide: Summarize the biblical truth shared in this lesson in 1-2 sentences. Define repentance. Read Mark 1:14-15. What was Jesus' first sermon? Read Psalm 51:1-17. What did David ask God for after his life fell into a spiral of sin? Read Hebrews 11:1. What does this verse say about faith? What do you need to confess and repent of today? Write your own version of a psalm of repentance. Read Hebrews 11:8-19. Do you think you would have had the faith to obey like Abraham did? Why or why not? Read Romans 4:13-25. What saved Abraham? What does verse 24 say will save you and me? How does this text-driven truth affect the way you live everyday life? What does this teach you about man? What does this teach you about God? Intentional Prayer: If you haven't yet made the decision to follow Jesus, take time now to confess your sin and place your faith in Him. Once you make that decision, reach out to someone doing this Delighting in Doctrine podcast study with you to tell them you've decided to follow Jesus. If you're already a Christian, take a moment to consider your relationship with Jesus. If sin is in the way, repent of it and ask God to restore fellowship and communion with you.
