Will Your Marriage Survive Your Ambition? | Blaque Nubon
Visit https://www.thathusband.com for merch, live event tickets, and other resources [S3] EPISODE 29: WORK OVER YOUR FAMILY? This episode started as a quick update to let you know why That Husband Podcast is taking a short break, but it became a much deeper conversation about the kind of husband I hope to be. As my wife and I navigate life with newborn twins, prepare to launch a church, and carry the weight of family, ministry, and business, I was reminded that no public platform is worth sacrificing the people waiting for you at home. Sometimes the strongest decision a man can make is to slow down long enough to protect what matters most. A moment from the Winnie Mandela documentary challenged me in a way I wasn’t expecting. It made me think about legacy, authenticity, and the uncomfortable question every husband should wrestle with: if my wife were asked to describe who I really am, would her words reflect the man you see on this podcast? My hope is that every husband leaves this episode challenged to pursue a marriage anchored by conviction instead of convenience, and reminded that the most important life you’ll ever build is the one your family experiences when no one else is watching. The One Thing I Hate About Being Married To You | Blaque Nubon & Lilly Million
Visit https://www.thathusband.com for merch, live event tickets, and other resources [S3] EPISODE 28: THE HARD WORK OF MARRIAGE What begins as a light-hearted discussion about what we jokingly call ”female crazy” quickly becomes something far deeper. Together, we unpack the moments in marriage when emotions seem to outrun logic, when miscommunication leaves both husband and wife feeling misunderstood, and when the person you love most somehow becomes the person who absorbs your deepest frustrations. This is not a conversation about men versus women. It is about learning to understand one another before we judge one another. My wife courageously reflects on what it feels like to spiral emotionally, while I share what it feels like to be on the receiving end of that spiral. Together we explore insecurity, purpose, exhaustion, parenthood, anxiety, communication, and the hidden stories we bring into marriage. We realised that so many of our arguments were never really about the argument itself. They were invitations to ask a deeper question: What is actually happening in your heart right now? Sometimes the greatest breakthrough in marriage comes when we stop trying to win the moment and start trying to understand the person. Healthy marriages are not built by two people who never lose their way, they are built by two people who keep choosing to find each other again. There are moments where we will misunderstand each other, wound each other, and fail each other. But there is also grace to slow down, to listen, to apologise, and to reconnect. My hope is that every husband watching feels less alone, every wife feels more understood, and every couple walks away believing that the goal of marriage is not to prove who is right, but to become the kind of people who love each other well, even on our worst days. Marriage Cannot Heal What You Refuse To Confront | Blaque Nubon
Visit https://www.thathusband.com for merch, live event tickets, and other resources [S3] EPISODE 27: HAS LOVE STOPPED FEELING EASY? This episode was born out of the questions we could not finish answering at one of our live Beans and Bonds gatherings, but what unfolded became something much bigger than marriage advice. We wrestle with the hidden parts of ourselves that quietly follow us into our relationships, the survival strategies we developed as boys, the insecurities we keep buried, the secret expectations we never communicate and the longing for peace that we struggle to define. If marriage has ever felt harder than you imagined, perhaps it is because marriage is not simply asking you to love another person, it is asking you to finally meet yourself. One of the convictions that has shaped me more than almost anything else is this. Marriage does not create our brokenness, it reveals it. Every difficult conversation, every misunderstanding, every moment of conflict exposes something deeper that was already there. We talk honestly about why communication is so difficult, why vulnerability feels terrifying, why many husbands long for peace without knowing what peace really is, and why the goal of marriage is not simply happiness but transformation. I share why I believe marriage is God’s invitation to become more fully human, not by hiding our weaknesses but by allowing them to be seen, carried, and healed within the safety of covenant love. More than anything, this episode reminded me that the healthiest marriages are not built by two people trying to protect themselves, instead, they are built by two people learning to give themselves away. We explore why love cannot exist in isolation, why selfishness slowly suffocates intimacy, and why becoming a better husband is less about finding yourself and more about learning to die to yourself every single day. If you have ever wondered why marriage feels like it is exposing every part of you, maybe that is exactly what it is supposed to do. Because the greatest gift marriage gives us is not comfort, it is the opportunity to become the kind of man who knows how to love well.
