The Mask in The Mirror
<p><strong>“The Mask and The Mirror”</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Keep playing this projected blame game, trying to hang each other—</strong></p><p><strong>Pointing fingers because you’re the same,</strong></p><p><strong>Or claim a different name.</strong></p><p><strong>Proclaim fame in forgiveness free from shame.</strong></p><p><strong>There is no freedom in the fast lane.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>It’s time to find your way out.</strong></p><p><strong>And every time you crouch, and stare down each other like you are about to shout,</strong></p><p><strong>Reach out to each other, and find common ground.</strong></p><p><strong>It’s somewhere there, around you both.</strong></p><p><strong>This is not what you chose, but you can send this pain below.</strong></p><p><strong>Just know there is passion and love in the same hate you show each other.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Deny thyself, but not your brother—pick up the slack for one another.</strong></p><p><strong>Take off the mask.</strong></p><p><strong>Learn how to take a breath before you react.</strong></p><p><strong>The task is easier said than done,</strong></p><p><strong>But this is not a battle that can be fought on sides and won.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Put down your smoking gun and look at the sunrise.</strong></p><p><strong>Take up tithes,</strong></p><p><strong>And look each other in the eyes.</strong></p><p><strong>This life is a team sport.</strong></p><p><strong>We get bent out of shape and out of sorts,</strong></p><p><strong>But there doesn’t have to be a vacant last resort on an island all alone.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>You won’t own victory; and you already know.</strong></p><p><strong>So set down the sword, and show those you love that you care,</strong></p><p><strong>Because when push comes to shove, your love will always be there.</strong></p><p><strong>Let peace fill the air and clear the air of hate.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Find grace.</strong></p><p><strong>Quit running a rat race.</strong></p><p><strong>Instead, set a steady pace,</strong></p><p><strong>And lace yourselves together in the love radiated from above.</strong></p><p><strong>#KatySaidThat</strong></p><p><strong>#KatySaidThatPoetry</strong></p>

Imposter Syndrome
<p><strong>“Imposter Syndrome”</strong></p><p><strong>This is not trauma.</strong></p><p><strong>This is not about my daddy or my mama.</strong></p><p><strong>This is low-key... no drama.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>I felt like an abomination,</strong></p><p><strong>Like I deserved a nomination</strong></p><p><strong>For "Best Act."</strong></p><p><strong>No, I didn’t try.</strong></p><p><strong>This is just how I automatically react.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>I crack at the guilt.</strong></p><p><strong>I feel... but I am stoic.</strong></p><p><strong>Holding on to this mask I built.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>I know it won’t last.</strong></p><p><strong>But for now? I think fast.</strong></p><p><strong>And it’s just what comes out.</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>I can’t go back.</strong></p><p><strong>So I need to make up for what I lack.</strong></p><p><strong>That is my task.</strong></p><p><strong>#KatySaidThat</strong></p><p><strong>#KatySaidThatPoetry</strong></p>
