[…] But since the many variables prevent the perfect correlation, such an approach is not in the best interest of the scientific practitioner or the sick patient. The alternative procedure recommended is to locate the subluxation by examining the patient for signs of nerve pressure, disc inflammation, and fixation. Emphasis is placed on finding the nerve involved. When the area of subluxation is determined on the basis of such physiological and pathological evidence, the possibility of error is minimized. Sometimes the film may be used to give supplemental information to aid in the determination when the other evidence is not conclusive. […]
