The 26s_Ink Podcast - Episode 14: Trở về với chính mình

The 26s_Ink Podcast - Episode 14: Trở về với chính mình

Podcast Episode 14 – Returning to Oneself

Thank you for choosing to pause for a few minutes today — to slow down, to breathe, and to walk together through the meaning of two simple words: Returning to Oneself. From the moment we step out into the world, it seems we never truly stop searching for the way back — back to a place, a person, or perhaps, back to who we really are. Like a wave that travels far across the ocean only to return to the sea, there is, within each of us, a quiet longing — the journey of a wanderer trying to find their way home to the self.

We often think “returning” means going backward — from the outside in, from far to near. But in truth, it is a journey of awareness. Some people live their entire lives in the same house, yet never truly return to themselves, because their hearts have wandered through countless expectations — I must succeed, I must be happy, I must be strong, I must be loved like others. They keep walking down roads that lead nowhere, running only to escape the emptiness inside. The philosopher Heidegger once said, “Human beings are beings thrown into the world.” We are born, we open our eyes, and we begin to walk — not knowing why, not knowing where to. But amid all the chaos, there is always a faint whisper within: Come back. Return to yourself. A place where we no longer need to prove anything, no longer need to run to become someone else.

Modern life makes us forget the real rhythm of our souls. We move too fast, talk too much, do too much — until we can no longer hear our own voice. Like someone standing in a crowd, laughing loudly, yet feeling an endless emptiness inside. Carl Jung once said: “People meet everything they try to avoid, right in their dreams.” Perhaps that’s because we can never truly leave ourselves. No matter how far we run, a part of us is always waiting — the most fragile, yet the most real part. When we feel lost, it’s not necessarily a lack of direction — it’s our soul speaking. It’s saying: “It’s time to stop. It’s time to return to yourself.”

Returning to oneself isn’t just about finding beauty — it’s about having the courage to face what we’ve avoided. The philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, founder of existentialism, once wrote: “Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.” To return to oneself is to look back — to sit with the memories that hurt, the failures, the moments we wished to erase. Not to reopen the wound, but to understand that they, too, are part of us. Nietzsche spoke of the “eternal return” — that everything in life, whether painful or joyful, repeats endlessly. And only when we can smile and say “yes” to it all, do we truly live fully. When we can see ourselves — both in our mistakes and in our tenderness — that is the moment we have truly returned.

[Full sub at: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569324735415 ]

Thank you for listening today. If your path now stands at a crossroad, remember — you don’t need to know where you’re going. You only need to know the way back — back to yourself. Because in the deepest silence, you will hear the call of the place you’ve always belonged to.
