From Ballroom to Team Lead: James Fierro Jr E3.3 Agent Brew; "It doesn't get easier, you get stronger"
What does a former competitive ballroom dancer know about Brooklyn real estate?
A lot, it turns out.
On this episode of Agent Brew, Host Eric Zollinger sits down with James Fierro Jr. of Compass. He moved to New York from Buffalo not knowing many people, started in real estate in 2012, and now leads a five-person team whose production has doubled every year (perhaps even triple for 2026!)
A few moments that stayed with me:
🔹 Ethics first. When he finds an expired listing, he calls the original agent before contacting the owner. We still have to work together.
🔹 The listing that fired him. A seller let him go. Instead of walking away, he owned his mistakes, rebuilt trust and won a second chance. He sold the apartment, and years later sold it again.
🔹 A great day is one you control. Did you make the calls? Send the emails? Preview the property? That is a win, whatever the market does.
🔹 Not everyone wants to be you. A good team lead adapts the business to each person's goals.
🔹 "Chips make chunks." That first rental client could become your next $7 million townhouse.
His favorite quote sums it up: "It doesn't get easier. You get stronger."
