1.16 Nino Marques | Reading | "Against Pride (Part II): A Pastoral and Theological Reflection"
As June continues to press its moral framework onto our culture, believers are increasingly forced to navigate a public square that treats objective reality as a form of harm. The primary strategy used to silence the church today is no longer an intellectual argument, but a series of weaponized emotional maneuvers designed to demand absolute affirmation.
In Part 2 of this special series, we conclude our reading of the pastoral and theological reflections written by Pastor Nino Marques of Knox Baptist Church in Calgary.
In this episode, we cover:
The Rainbow and the Wrath
Weaponized Emotions
No One Beyond Redemption
When Niceness Replaces Holiness
May it be an encouragement to you as you navigate the month of June.

1.15 Nino Marques | Reading | "Against Pride (Part I): A Pastoral and Theological Reflection"
Every June, Alberta is covered in rainbow flags as corporations, media outlets, and municipal institutions rebrand to celebrate Pride Month. In the midst of this coordinated cultural push, individual Christians often feel isolated, stuck between a desire to speak truth and the fear of being dismissed as hostile or bigoted.
In Part 1 of this special series, we feature a pastoral and theological reading written by Pastor Nino Marques of Knox Baptist Church in Calgary. Moving past superficial political commentary, Pastor Nino provides a rigorous, gospel-centered framework to help believers understand the spiritual anatomy of the modern Pride movement and remain uncompromised in a confused culture.
In this episode, we unpack:
The Anatomy of Pride: Why the name of this cultural celebration is a tragically fitting description of biblical self-exaltation and the rejection of God’s design.
Biblical Sexuality: Returning to the foundational truths of Genesis to recover a robust, integrated, and beautiful view of human sexuality.
Why Love is Not Affirmation: Deconstructing the modern secular definition of romance and exploring why a "love" that lies to protect comfort is actually an act of cruelty.
The Solid Ground of Identity: Why internal subjective feelings are a terrible foundation for self, and how the Gospel offers received identity over false identity.

1.13 Josh Senneker | Interview | Bill C–9 and The Ottawa Statement on Christian Speech
Is the freedom of the pulpit under threat in Canada?
Sign the Statement: https://forms.ottawastatement.ca/ (https://forms.ottawastatement.ca/)
In this episode, Jay Hildebrand sits down with Josh Senneker, Director of Public Policy for Alberta Reformer, to discuss the alarming implications of Bill C-9 and the urgent necessity of The Ottawa Statement on Christian Speech.
As the federal government introduces legislation that could permit the prosecution of biblical preaching as "hate speech," Alberta Reformer is joining a national coalition of pastors and leaders to draw a line in the sand. We discuss the removal of religious protections, the rise of "activist judges," and why the Lordship of Christ demands a bold, principled response from the church today.
In this interview, we cover:
* The Bill C-9 Trap: How the removal of the "religious defense" from the Criminal Code puts every faithful pastor at risk.
* Sin is Not Hate: Why the declaration of the Gospel—including the reality of sin—is an act of love, not a crime.
* Strength in Numbers: The significance of the growing list of signatories standing for the Ottawa Statement.
* The Call to Boldness: Why Christians must "obey God rather than man" while remaining above reproach.

The extended Q&A covers:
* The Barry Neufeld Case: What a $750,000 fine in BC tells us about the future of free speech in Canada.
* How do Christians discern between "The Sky Is Falling!" political rhetoric and issues of actual concern?

* And more!

See also Surah 2:191–193; 4:89; 8:12; 8:39; 47:4; 66:9. Of course, there are other texts in the Hadith beyond these passages in the Qur’an that speak of violence towards others.
The Qur’an describes paradise with rewards including beautiful, pure virgins described as untouched beings with features like large eyes and full breasts (Surahs 44:54, 55:56–74, 56:22–37, 78:33). Groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS promised 72 of these virgins for those who died in holy war based on texts in the Hadith (traditional sayings of Muhammad).
