Smooth Criminals & Sad Backstories Part Two: Lessons from Demon Slayer
This is part two of our Demon Slayer conversation with comedian Lifa and creative El. You do not need to be an anime fan to enjoy this one. We move deeper into the themes of empathy, justice, and personal growth, reflecting on how strength and weakness show up in real life. Along the way we talk about vulnerability, comparison, and the role of change in shaping who we are. The question remains: can we understand a villain’s backstory while still holding them accountable for their actions?

Smooth Criminals Pt 1
Smooth Criminals & Sad Backstories: Demon Slayer and the Choices That Define. For the first episode in literal years, I am joined by comedian Lifa and creative El to dive into Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. You do not need to be an anime fan to vibe with this one. We break down what makes villains who they are and unpack bigger questions: What makes someone “bad”? Why do some people turn pain into healing while others turn it into harm? Along the way, we explore jealousy, sibling rivalry, community, luck, and mental health while drawing lines between anime storytelling and the struggles we all face in real life.
