🎧 Season 3, Episode 11 — The Golden Calf: When God Isn't Fast Enough
What happens when God doesn't move fast enough for us?
Moses is on the mountain, the Israelites are getting restless, and Aaron has a spectacularly bad idea involving gold jewelry and a calf.
This week on The Altarnative Sermon, Rev. Dr. Jeffery Kanode and Adam Herrick explore what happens when waiting turns into doubt, doubt turns into desperation, and desperation produces something shiny that we mistake for God.
From Twenty One Pilots and Tame Impala to Muse, Linkin Park, and Imagine Dragons, we're asking an uncomfortable question: Have we really stopped making golden calves, or have we just gotten better at disguising them?
Sometimes the hardest part of faith isn't believing in God. It's trusting God when nothing seems to be happening.

🎧 Season 3, Episode 10 — No Other Gods, No Other Masters
God has brought Israel out of Egypt. They're free—but now what?
At Mount Sinai, God gives the people the Ten Commandments. They're often treated as a list of restrictions, but the story begins somewhere much more important: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.”
Freedom comes first. The commandments show Israel how to live in it.
Rev. Dr. Jeffery Kanode and Adam Herrick explore the gods we put before God, our constant struggle for control, and whether these ancient commandments still challenge the things we worship today.

🎧 Season 3, Episode 9 — The Gospel Has No Chains
Paul finally makes it to Rome—but not exactly as a tourist.
He's under house arrest, guarded by a Roman soldier, and waiting for his case to be heard. Yet Acts doesn't end with Paul defeated, silenced, or sitting around feeling sorry for himself. He spends two years welcoming people into his home and teaching anyone willing to listen.
Paul is chained.
The Gospel isn't.
And then Acts does something strange: it just...ends.
There is no neat conclusion to Paul's story. Instead, Luke leaves us with Paul preaching the Kingdom of God "with all boldness and without hindrance."
Maybe that's the point. The story isn't finished.
