Welcome to The Appalachian Disciples the podcast where faith gets real, life gets messy, and we try our best to follow Jesus without tripping over our own two feet. We’re your hosts, Tommy and Coty—two guys with a love for scripture, a heart for the mountains, and just enough stubbornness to keep things interesting. Here, we talk about faith the way folks around here do—honest, straight to the point, and maybe with a story or two along the way. From front porch conversations to deep dives into scripture, we’ll explore what it means to live as disciples of Christ—grounded in tradition, but always moving forward. Some weeks, we’ll tackle big questions. Other weeks, we’ll just try to figure out what in the world we’re doing. Either way, expect some laughs, some truth, and maybe even a little convictionSo grab your Bible, a strong cup of coffee and pull up a chair -------- let’s figure this faith thing out together.
In this episode of The Appalachian Disciples, we are joined by our repeat guests, Dan and Daniel, to discuss Sabbath and the importance of slowing down in a culture that constantly tells us to keep going. Using ideas from Stop, in the Name of God by Charlie Kirk, we talk about how rest requires trust in God and how stepping away from work, screens, and busyness can help us reconnect with our faith and our families.

Episode 22 - The Freedom of Forgiveness
In this episode of The Appalachian Disciples, we discuss the importance of forgiving in a timely manner before unresolved hurt develops into bitterness, resentment, anger, and distance. Holding on to an offense may feel like protection, but it can keep us emotionally connected to the pain and allow the hurt to influence how we think, speak, love, trust, and respond to others.
Forgiveness does not mean approving of what happened, pretending the pain was not real, or allowing harmful behavior to continue. It means releasing bitterness, surrendering the desire for revenge, and trusting God with justice.
