The podcast where two besties talk obsessively about all things bookish.
The author is Rebecca Elder. She is known for writing emotionally immersive romance books that will make you ugly cry, laugh out loud, and kick your feet until your socks fall off.
The reader is Lily. She’s been devouring books since 1991 and thinks her book addiction might possibly be a mental illness.
Together, we hope to give you the best of both worlds when it comes to reading. We’ll take you under the covers of how books are born, from the writing process to the struggles of being an indie author.
We’ll also go embarrassingly in-depth on a variety of truly chaotic topics, like gasp-worthy theories from your favorite books, things that give us the ick, or which fictional characters we would die to bring to life.

Episode 26: My Darling: The Greatest Love Story (Almost) Never Told 💌
Welcome to The Author and the Reader where two besties talk obsessively about all things bookish in the most chaotic fashion.
On this episode the ladies chat with Drew Coyle, the author of the greatest love story (almost) never told of his grandparents falling in love through writing letters from thousands of miles away during World War II.
Drew and his father spent the past 18 months transcribing their letters, illustrating their words, and narrating their story.
Helen Richardson had traveled the world, pedaling through distant lands as a fiercely independent lone wolf.
In 1944, seeking a new kind of adventure, she joined the Red Cross, supporting armed forces in the South Pacific during World War II.
In the twelve months following a fateful one-night rendezvous, she exchanged more than 150 love letters with a lonely naval lieutenant, and discovered for the first time, that she too was capable of the one thing she wanted most: falling in love.
This book is a collection of their letters, a portrait of human connection that reveals what may be the greatest love story never told.
