The Story Pastor David Goodwin Almost Never Told | Part 2
For 34 years, Pastor David Goodwin believed his biological father was dead. Then, at 47 years old, he received a DNA notification that would change everything he thought he knew about his life.
“100% confirmation. Parent-child DNA match. Father and son.”
And that was only one chapter of a testimony filled with heartbreak, unexpected miracles, impossible circumstances, and the faithfulness of God.
After the incredible response to Part 1, Pastor David Goodwin returns to The Babbler to finish sharing the testimony that has already encouraged so many people.
In Part 1, David shared how he survived a difficult birth, grew up in poverty and rejection, learned at age 13 that the man raising him wasn't his biological father, and received the Holy Ghost despite opposition at home.
But the story was far from over.
In Part 2, Pastor Goodwin opens up about:
Following God's calling despite years of hardship, rejection, and uncertainty.
Finding his wife, Shannon, and facing homelessness, unemployment, and financial struggles early in their marriage.
A ten-year process of preparation before entering the ministry.
How his son's difficult birth became a turning point in his mother's relationship with God.
Following God's direction to plant Grace Point Church in Hoover, Alabama, even when almost nobody showed up.
The incredible journey from a struggling church plant to a growing, multicultural Apostolic congregation.
Discovering that the father he believed had died in Vietnam was actually alive, and meeting him for the first time after 47 years.
Through every disappointment, closed door, and unexpected turn, David shares one consistent truth: God was there, even when he couldn't see what God was doing.
What looked like rejection became preparation. What seemed hopeless became an opportunity for God to work. And what David thought was a relationship forever lost was eventually restored.
This powerful Christian testimony is a reminder that God is still writing your story.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
Your circumstances may not make sense today, but that doesn't mean God is finished.
The pen is still in His hand.
