The Orioles gave us one of the most exhilarating weeks of the season, and one of the most confusing. They took two of three from Detroit behind an epic comeback that may go down as the greatest in franchise history considering the stakes, followed it up with another dramatic comeback win over the Phillies, and then immediately crashed back to reality with consecutive shutout losses. Add in the surprising trade of Dean Kremer for an A-ball outfielder, mounting rumors involving Adley Rutschman, Taylor Ward, and Trevor Rogers, and a front office that has remained quiet while the rest of the American League arms race intensifies, and Baltimore enters the trade deadline just two-and-a-half games out of a playoff spot with more questions than answers. Tonight, we'll try to make sense of where this team stands with less than 24 hours until the deadline. That and more on The Bat Around.

The Bat Around-July 26th, 2025-Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda
Another week, another round of woulda, coulda, shoulda for the Orioles. Baltimore went just 2-4 against Boston and Atlanta in a week that easily could—and probably should—have been 5-1. Four-error games, disastrous early innings, blown late leads, sloppy defense, wasted opportunities and a bases-loaded, nobody-out chance in extra innings that somehow produced nothing. It was six games that perfectly encapsulated the frustration of this season. And yet, somehow, the Orioles remain just 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot. Tonight on The Bat Around, Paul & Zach break down a team wasting one of baseball’s best starting rotations with an offense that simply isn’t producing and a bullpen that hasn’t been good enough, and ask how much longer the Orioles can keep letting winnable games slip away while the postseason remains within reach.
