The Best of Sherwood Park Podcast showcases the incredible businesses and owners that make our community amazing. Join host Kim Bruce as she talks to the heart and soul of the community.
In this episode of The Best of Sherwood Park, I sit down with Ginger Bitzer, founder of Nana’s Navigator, for a heartfelt conversation about caregiving, advocacy, and navigating healthcare transitions.
Ginger shares her personal journey, shaped by her close relationship with her grandparents and years working within community and health services, and explains why she created Nana’s Navigator: to help families navigate care without feeling alone, rushed, or overwhelmed.
This episode explores:
The hidden emotional and physical toll caregiving takes on women
Why healthcare navigation feels confusing and disjointed
The difference between directing care and walking with someone
How proactive conversations can prevent crisis decisions
Why caregivers are the backbone of the system, and need support too
At its core, this conversation is a reminder that:
You are not expected to do this alone.

The Best of Sherwood Park presents Shani DeShield
On a recent episode of The Best of Sherwood Park, I sat down with Shani DeShield, Nurse Practitioner and founder of Manchester Rose Primary & Preventive Care, to talk about what’s really happening inside our healthcare system—and what can be different.
Shani’s path into healthcare was shaped by personal loss, years of frontline experience, and a deep belief that people deserve choice, advocacy, and true partnership in their care.
In this conversation, we explore:
* The role of Nurse Practitioners and how they compare to GPs
* Why healthcare has become largely reactive—and where preventive care fits in
*The importance of time, conversation, and truly understanding your health data
* What it looks like to work with a provider who listens beyond “everything looks normal”
At the end of the day, this episode is a reminder that you have more choice and agency in your healthcare than you may realize. With the right information, the right questions, and a provider who truly listens and partners with you, care can shift from rushed and reactive to informed, supportive, and empowering—so you feel heard, confident, and involved in decisions about your health.

The Best of Sherwood Park presents Kennedy Zubot
This week’s episode is a special one, and it’s close to my heart.
I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Kennedy Zubot, a Women’s Strength and Confidence Coach based in Calgary, who recently stepped onto the stage in a National Natural Bodybuilding competition.
As a fellow coach, this conversation is about so much more than fitness or aesthetics. It’s about what it really takes to commit to something hard, to rebuild your confidence when life throws you curveballs, and to prove to yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Kennedy and I talk about:
Her evolution from high-performance soccer player to coach and athlete
The mental strength it took to train for months, overcome self-doubt, and show up with pride
How she turned personal struggle, including infertility, into a deeper source of purpose and resilience
Why mindset and self-belief are the real foundation of transformation
It’s raw, real, and full of the kind of honesty that every woman needs to hear, whether you’re navigating menopause, chasing a goal, or simply trying to feel strong again in your own body.
At the end of the day, this episode is a reminder that you can make any change you want to your body or your life, you just need a plan, the right tools, and someone in your corner who believes in you.
