Rewire for Birth helps you prepare your mind, body, nervous system, and intuition so you can move through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with greater trust, confidence, and connection to yourself. Rewire your mind. Reclaim your birth. Learn more here: Rewire for Birth (https://rewireforbirth.com/) What happens when the birth you've prepared for takes an unexpected turn? In this powerful episode of Rewire for Birth, Dr. Cindy Tahhan welcomes Crystal Lee and midwife Fadwah Halaby of Midwife360 to share the remarkable story of Crystal's third home birth—this time, welcoming twins. Having experienced two previous home births, Crystal approached her twin pregnancy with intention. She prioritized nutrition, rest, preparation, and building a birth team she could trust. But even with preparation, birth can unfold in unexpected ways. Crystal and Fadwah take us inside the intense moments of this birth, including two breech extractions, an umbilical cord prolapse, concerns about the babies' well-being, and the decisions made as events unfolded. Together, they reflect on the importance of skilled support, communication, trust, and adapting when birth doesn't follow the original plan. How Crystal approached her third home birth differently after learning she was expecting twins. The role of nutrition, rest, and emotional preparation during pregnancy. Why choosing the right birth team made such a difference. What happened when both babies presented breech. The unexpected complications and decisions that shaped the birth. Fadwah's perspective on supporting Crystal through critical moments. The emotional experience of welcoming twins after such an intense labor. Why preparation and flexibility can exist together. This episode is a reminder that birth is deeply personal and unpredictable. Crystal's story highlights the value of informed decisions, individualized care, and a trusted team equipped to respond when circumstances change. It's also a moving reflection on the strength and vulnerability that can coexist in birth. Listen to the full episode This episode shares one family's birth experience and is not a substitute for individualized medical guidance. Twin and breech births can involve significant risks, and decisions about birth setting and care should be made with appropriately qualified maternity professionals. Ep 80. The Birth Experience We Don't Talk About: A Father's Perspective on Birth Trauma with Tiago Kunzendorff

Preparing for motherhood is more than about knowing what to expect. Rewire for Birth helps you prepare your mind, body, nervous system, and intuition so you can move through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with greater trust, confidence, and connection to yourself. Rewire your mind. Reclaim your birth. Learn more here: Rewire for Birth (https://rewireforbirth.com/) What happens to the birth partner when birth doesn't go as planned? In this powerful conversation, we sit down with Tiago Kunzendorff, a father of three, to explore an often-overlooked part of the birth experience: what happens to the father or birth partner when they witness a traumatic birth. Tiago shares the story of his first child's birth in 2004, which quickly became an emergency C-section. He describes feeling completely powerless, disconnected, and unsure of what he was supposed to do while watching his wife go through an intense medical emergency. For years, he told the story as an incredible and somewhat shocking birth story—but he hadn't fully explored how the experience affected him. This conversation opens the door to a different question: What happens to the father when he witnesses birth trauma? Tiago shares what it felt like to be treated as a supporting character, to feel like he was in the way, and to suddenly find himself standing in an operating room surrounded by doctors, blood, medical equipment, and uncertainty. He also shares the emotional aftermath of his second child's birth, when his son experienced complications and spent time in the NICU. Through these experiences, Tiago began to understand how much birth can imprint not only the mother, but the entire family. In this episode, we explore: The often-overlooked experience of fathers during birth Why birth partners can experience feelings of helplessness and powerlessness Why traditional prenatal education may not prepare birth partners for the reality of birth Tiago’s experience witnessing an emergency C-section The emotional impact of watching someone you love experience a medical emergency The difference between witnessing an experience and experiencing its emotional impact The importance of including fathers and birth partners in birth preparation The emotional aftermath of an emergency birth Tiago’s experience when his son required NICU care The isolation fathers can experience while trying to stay strong The importance of talking about difficult birth experiences Why families benefit when both parents are educated and supported How partners can become more involved in the birth experience The importance of discussing what kind of birth experience you want to share Why helplessness doesn't have to be the default experience for birth partners Preparing not only for birth, but for the unexpected One of the most important messages from this conversation is that birth affects more than the person giving birth. The mother deserves support, education, safety, and empowerment. And the father or birth partner deserves preparation, education, inclusion, and support too. Because when the whole family is prepared and supported, everyone has more opportunity to participate in the experience rather than simply react to it. Your birth matters. Your partner’s experience matters. And the way you enter parenthood together matters. Rewire your mind. Reclaim your birth. Episode 79. What No One Tells You About Preparing for Postpartum with Rhowena Adolfo Patel

Learn more here: Rewire for Birth (https://rewireforbirth.com/) In this deeply personal conversation, I sit down with Rhowena Adolfo Patel to explore what it really means to prepare for motherhood—physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically, and intuitively. Save $50 on her Mama Care Program here: https://www.mamacarecoach.com/mama-care-course-x-rewire-for-birth (https://www.mamacarecoach.com/mama-care-course-x-rewire-for-birth) Rhowena shares openly about moving through a season of profound depletion, closing her business, facing personal challenges, and realizing that she couldn’t rebuild alone. Receiving support from multiple practitioners became part of her preparation for welcoming another baby—and opened the door to a deeper conversation about what women truly need before, during, and after pregnancy. From there, we venture into the less tangible side of motherhood. Rhowena shares her experiences with intuition, dreams, spirit babies, and the ways she felt connected to her children even before conception. Whether or not you’ve had experiences like these yourself, this conversation invites you to consider what becomes possible when we make space for curiosity rather than needing to have every experience explained. We also have an important and vulnerable conversation about maternal mental health and intrusive thoughts during pregnancy. Rhowena shares what it was like to experience frightening thoughts and how learning to observe them, rather than immediately identifying with them, changed her relationship with them. Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder that mothers are not meant to do this alone. What you’ll take away from this episode: • Why preparing for motherhood starts long before birth—and why your physical, emotional, mental, and energetic wellbeing matters • Why building your support system before pregnancy and postpartum can change the way you move through motherhood • How to cultivate a deeper relationship with your intuition and become more curious about what your body, mind, and inner knowing are communicating • What Rhowena learned from navigating intrusive thoughts during pregnancy, and why getting support matters • Why postpartum isn’t a time to “bounce back,” but a profound period of recovery, integration, and transformation • How preparing for birth can also mean preparing for the identity shift of becoming a mother One of the ideas we return to in this conversation is: You can’t fear and receive at the same time. What might become possible if, instead of trying to control every unknown, you created more room for curiosity, trust, support, and possibility? That is part of the deeper work of Rewire for Birth. Because birth preparation isn’t only about knowing what might happen. It’s about preparing you to meet what happens. To stay connected to your body when things feel unfamiliar. To recognize when you need support. To listen to your intuition while also making informed decisions. And to enter motherhood with the understanding that you are not meant to do it all alone. If you’re preparing for pregnancy, pregnant now, thinking about birth, or simply feeling the stirrings of the woman you’re becoming, this conversation offers a beautiful invitation to begin preparing from the inside out. Your birth matters. Your transition into motherhood matters. And so does the woman you’re becoming along the way. Rewire your mind. Reclaim your birth.
