The Birth Room Podcast

About The Birth Room Podcast

Into The Birth Room is a faith-rooted, woman-honoring podcast where stories are held sacred and birth is remembered as holy ground. Hosted by birth workers Sydney Hagan of Untamed Birth and Nichole Smith of ReWild Birth Collective, this show explores the fullness of pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and motherhood—through undisturbed stories, honest conversations, and ancient wisdom. While we love a good birth story and share them often, this podcast goes deeper: we talk about holistic and herbal support, spiritual preparation, sovereignty in the system, the partner’s perspective, midwifery, loss, healing, and the real, raw beauty of birth as it was designed to be. Whether you’re preparing for birth, healing from one, or walking with women through these sacred thresholds—you’re invited to pull up a seat into the birth room. 🕊️ Monthly episode drops 🎧 Available on Apple, Spotify, & YouTube 🌿 untamedbirth.com @untamedbirthkeeper | rewildbirth.com @rewildbirthcollective

The Birth Room Podcast | Episode 009 | To Kegel, Or Not To Kegel? Interview with PFT Jen Bertoluzzi

The Birth Room Podcast — Episode 009 Pelvic Floor Therapy in Pregnancy & Postpartum with Dr. Jen Bertoluzzi, DPT In this episode, we’re sitting down with Dr. Jen Bertoluzzi, DPT, a pelvic floor therapist and the heart behind Craft My Wellness, to talk about something that so many women experience… but don’t always understand or talk about: Your pelvic floor. This conversation gently pulls back the curtain on what’s actually happening in the body—and how pelvic floor therapy can support you in ways that are both preventative and restorative. Whether you’re currently pregnant, preparing for birth, healing postpartum, or even years beyond your last baby… this episode will meet you there. We Talk About: What the pelvic floor actually is (and why it matters more than you think) Common misconceptions about pelvic floor health Signs your body may be asking for support (that are often normalized) Preparing the pelvic floor for birth without fear-based narratives How pelvic floor therapy can support: leaking or incontinence pelvic pain or pressure prolapse core weakness or instability painful intimacy The difference between strengthening vs. relaxing the pelvic floor So many women are told that leaking when you laugh, pain with intimacy, or feeling “off” in your body after birth is just part of motherhood. It’s common. But it’s not something you have to carry without support. This episode is an invitation to understand your body better—to listen, to tend, and to restore what was never meant to be dismissed. Our Guest: Dr. Jen Bertoluzzi, DPT is a pelvic floor therapist and the founder of Craft My Wellness, based in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She specializes in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond with personalized, whole-body care that honors how intricately we were designed. Jen offers both in-person care locally and virtual sessions in multiple states, making this kind of support more accessible no matter where you are. Episode 008 | Placenta & Delayed Cord Clamping: The Gospel Written In Flesh

The Birth Room Podcast: Episode 008 Placenta & Delayed Cord Clamping: The Gospel Written In Flesh What if we didn't view the placenta as just an organ? In this episode, we step into one of the most overlooked — yet most miraculous — elements of pregnancy and birth: the placenta. Too often treated as disposable, hurried, or purely clinical, the placenta tells a story far deeper than modern obstetrics typically acknowledges. It tells a story of provision, connection, sacrifice, timing, the story of redemption... That's right: It tells the Gospel — written in flesh. In This Episode, We Discuss: The theology of the placenta What the placenta actually does during pregnancy The physiology of delayed cord clamping Why immediate clamping disrupts a God-designed process The difference between fear-based intervention and physiologic trust The spiritual symbolism of the cord — attachment, surrender, and release How delayed cord clamping supports: Iron stores Blood volume stabilization Smoother cardiovascular and circulatory transition Gentler newborn adaptation ... And more. Understanding the design strengthens confidence. Confidence quiets fear. And fear is often the loudest voice in modern birth rooms. “Every good and perfect gift is from above…” — James 1:17 The Gospel is written into every fiber of our beings. Episode 007 | Her Birth As Worship: Birth Met Worship, Faith Reclaimed Love

In this tender and deeply personal episode, we sit down with Zach and Shelby, high school sweethearts and parents of five. We walk through the holy ground of their birth stories and the quiet strength of their marriage. From a hospital birth, to a redemptive home birth, a romantic birth center birth, the grief of miscarriage, and a final unassisted birth steeped in faith and worship… they’ve truly done it all. Together, we explore themes of trust, redemption, loss, and the transformative beauty of surrender—to God, to each other, and to birth. Zach shares how he stepped into the sacred role of birth keeper, supporting Shelby with strength and unwavering presence. Shelby opens up about what it meant to truly let go, invite God into the center of her marriage, and then her birth, and to be held body and soul by the one she loves. This is more than a birth story. It’s a powerful testimony. A window into devotion, healing, and holy transformation.
