About The Bloom Effect with Cassie Kellner
The Bloom Effect with Cassie Kellner is a podcast for teams who care about how they lead and how they grow along the way. Cassie sits down with guests to talk about the things that don’t always get said out loud: the messiness of leadership, building culture from the inside out, and learning to show up in a way that feels like you. These conversations are honest, unpolished, and rooted in real experience. If you're building something you believe in and want a space that feels steady, this is it. New episodes drop bi-weekly.

Turn Up the Lights: Women Leading in Dentistry
"None of that is soft. That is leadership." You know when your assistant is off before she says a single word. You feel it in your chest on a Monday morning when the team is out of alignment, long before it ever shows up on a spreadsheet. For a lot of women in this profession, that's just called leading. Host Cassie Kellner goes solo for this one, and she comes in with her whole heart. After more than two decades in dentistry, starting as a dental assistant in 2004, she's spent years watching female doctors lead their teams with grace. She's ready to name what those women have been told is "too sensitive" for what it really is: emotional intelligence, and one of the most valuable leadership skills there is. Then she gets practical. Cassie shares the six things she finds herself telling female doctors over and over. She also gets honest about the part a lot of women are quietly struggling with: leading a team made up almost entirely of other women. This one is for every female practice owner, associate, and leader who has wondered if she's cut out for this. You are. And you're not behind. You're building something. Cassie talks about: → Why emotional intelligence is a leadership strength, not oversensitivity → Holding standards without softening every expectation into a question → Empathy with boundaries, and why caring for your team can't mean carrying them → Delegating the work that isn't doctor work, and leading like you → Women leading women: moving from friend to leader, gossip, and why systems protect relationships → Building your circle on purpose and treating rest as part of the job About Cassie Kellner Cassie Kellner is the founder of Everbloom, a practice management consulting firm serving orthodontic and dental practices. She started her career as a dental assistant in 2004 and has spent more than two decades on, alongside, and in service of dental teams. Through Everbloom, she helps practices build clear systems, strong leaders, and cultures where people actually want to show up. As host of The Bloom Effect, she brings honest, unpolished conversations about leadership and team culture to the profession she loves. Off the clock, she's a mom of two and the current PTO president at her kids' school, so she knows a thing or two about full plates. Tune in on Apple, Spotify, or YouTube. Systems, Self-Trust, and the Journey with Dr. Mary Cooke
"The lesson is that you are never there. You're always on this journey." Every high achiever knows the feeling: when I finish this, when I hit that number, when the house is done, then I'll feel like I made it. Dr. Mary Cooke has learned that "there" doesn't exist, and she keeps relearning it. Cassie sits down with Dr. Mary Cooke, an orthodontist, practice owner, wife, and mom she's known for ten years. Fresh out of residency and looking for an associate job, Mary sent out letters. One orthodontist wrote back that he was selling. Her response: Okay, I'll buy it. Within weeks she owned a two-location practice in Napa and Fairfield. That same drive led her to bring Asana into orthodontic practice management a decade ago, replacing spreadsheets and laminated checklists. The result was freedom: when tasks are written down, a team member can call in sick and the office still runs. Cassie calls it "clarity is kindness." Mary also shares how to add a system without adding "another thing": audit what you have, replace instead of stack, pace the rollout, and make sure the doctor is all in. Then the conversation turns inward. Mary talks about a lifetime of seeking external validation, working with a wellness coach, and how journaling and meditation improve her HRV. Her biggest lesson: life is a journey, not a destination, and grace is the hardest skill for high achievers. She closes with the advice she wishes she'd heard 21 years ago: you get to decide what success is. KPIs matter, but they don't tell you everything. Do you enjoy your day? That's a metric no one tracks, and maybe we should. We talk about: → Buying a practice weeks after graduation and trusting your gut → How Asana replaced spreadsheets, laminated checklists, and sticky notes → Clarity is kindness: freedom for your team to take care of themselves → Implementing a new system without adding "another thing" → Letting go of external validation and working with a wellness coach → Life as a journey, not a destination, and giving yourself grace → Defining your own success and measuring happiness in your practice About Dr. Mary Cook Dr. Mary Cooke, DDS, MS, is an orthodontist and practice owner with 21 years in practice. She bought her first practice, with locations in Napa and Fairfield, California, just weeks after completing residency. One of the first to bring Asana into orthodontic practice management, she has helped practices across the industry build systems that give their teams clarity and freedom. A mom of two boys and a stepdaughter, she is a lifelong learner committed to personal growth. Listen + Subscribe Tune in on Apple, Spotify, or YouTube (https://youtu.be/tUxx8KXJRDU). Building for the Future: Inside a Fully Digital Practice with Dr. Jacquee Schieck
"I was not building my practice for the past. I was building it for the future." -Dr. Jacquee Schieck 🎙Every practice owner eventually hits the same wall: the way you've always done it is working, and it's quietly holding you back. In this episode, Cassie sits down with Dr. Jacquee Schieck, orthodontist, practice owner, speaker, part-time musician, and mother of four, on her actual birthday! For a conversation that starts as a digital-transformation masterclass and turns into something much bigger. Dr. Schieck has run a fully digital practice since 2020 and has been scanning since she opened in 2014. She never chased digital for its own sake; the goal was always one question: how do we make this better, for the patient, the team, and the family at home? The practical heart of this one is a concept she named herself: the reallocation of work. New technology doesn't erase work; it moves it. And if you're not intentional about where it goes, it follows you home and convinces everyone the old way was better. She and Cassie get specific: start with your scheduling template, choreograph your day around real patient care, and give the transition the year it takes to tip. Then comes the part every leader needs: what happens when you change things on your team instead of with them. Using the image of the rider, the elephant, and the path, Dr. Schieck argues that resistance isn't opposition; it's information. Bring your team in, explain the why, commit to ninety days before touching anything, and meet often enough that the "game of telephone" never writes its own story. From there, the conversation opens all the way up: the career she never planned, the coaches who taught her self-awareness, the midlife shift, and her belief that the goal was never "happy." It was alignment. We talk about: → Building for the future, not the past, and what fully digital actually took → The "reallocation of work" every digital practice has to plan for → Using your scheduling template to choreograph your days → Leading your team through change: the rider, the elephant, and the path → Alignment over "happy," and defining yourself by who you are, not what you do About Dr. Jacquee Schieck Dr. Jacquee Schieck is an orthodontist, practice owner, speaker, and part-time musician who has built and led a fully digital orthodontic practice since 2014. A self-described learner who "contains multitudes," she coaches other doctors on digital transformation, leadership, and delegation. Former University of Minnesota faculty and a mother of four, she's driven by one question: how do we make it better?
