Episode 112 - When Did Everything Become a Side Hustle?
Episode 112: When Did Everything Become a Side Hustle?
When did enjoying a hobby stop being enough? Nowadays, everything seems to come with the expectation that we should find a way to make money from it. Playing video games? Become a streamer. Enjoy writing? Publish books. Interested in technology? Build an app or start a YouTube channel. Somewhere along the way, simply doing something because we enjoy it started feeling like a wasted opportunity.
In this episode of The Books By Josh Audio Immersion, I talk about how hustle culture, social media, and rising living expenses have pushed more people toward side hustles and multiple income streams. Drawing from my own experiences with streaming, YouTube, publishing, investing, and running businesses, I discuss the reality behind so-called passive income and why making money isn't always as easy as influencers make it look.
I also get into the explosion of AI-powered side hustles, the flood of low-effort digital products, and the people selling courses promising financial freedom. There's nothing wrong with entrepreneurship or wanting to earn extra income, but there's a difference between building something you're passionate about and chasing whatever someone online promises will make you rich.
At the end of the day, being busy doesn't necessarily mean being successful, and not every hobby needs to become a business. Sometimes it's okay to enjoy something without expecting a paycheck in return.

Episode 111 - Too Many Choices
More choices are supposed to give us more freedom, so why do they sometimes make it harder to decide what we actually want?
In this episode of **The Books By Josh Audio Immersion**, I talk about what happens when we have too many choices and how that affects everything from something as simple as picking a show on Netflix to much bigger decisions involving careers, money, relationships, investing, and the things we choose to create. We have access to more options than ever before, but having the ability to do almost anything doesn't necessarily tell us what we *should* do.
I get into how this affects me personally as someone who writes across multiple genres, loves technology, has experience across different career fields, and has tried more than a few ways of making money. I also talk about the explosion of side hustles and why constantly chasing the next opportunity can leave us spreading our time, money, and attention across too many things instead of giving one thing a real chance to work.
Ultimately, this episode isn't about creating the perfect productivity system or optimizing every decision. It's about learning to drown out some of the noise, remember your why, narrow down the choices in front of you, and move forward. Sometimes you don't need to know which of a hundred possibilities is perfect. You just need to make one choice and take the next step.

Episode 110 The Numbers That Aren’t the Point
Numbers can tell you how something is performing, but they can't always tell you whether it's worth continuing.
In this episode of The Books By Josh Audio Immersion, I pull back the curtain on some of the actual numbers behind my podcast and books. I talk about having seven downloads on the last episode, averaging around $10 to $13 a day in book revenue before suddenly having several much slower days, and how easy it is to let those numbers affect the way you feel about what you're creating.
I also get into the trap of constantly checking dashboards, comparing yourself to other creators, and changing what you make just because something else appears more successful. Whether it's chasing popular book genres, podcast topics, or the latest way people claim you can make money online, focusing too much on the numbers can slowly pull you away from why you started creating in the first place.
The numbers are going to go up and down. The important part is not letting today's numbers decide whether you show up again tomorrow.
