The Stories We Tell Ourselves: How the Past Shapes Our Present and Our Relationships

What if the stories you tell yourself are quietly shaping the life you live? The stories about who you are. What other people think of you. Why someone treated you a certain way. What you can expect from love, relationships, and life itself. Many of these stories are born from painful experiences, disappointments, rejection, or moments when we had to protect ourselves. And while they may have helped us make sense of the past, they can also keep us trapped in patterns that no longer serve us. We can eat well, take our supplements, read the books, listen to the podcasts, and do everything we can to improve our health and wellbeing. But what happens when the voice inside our own head keeps telling us that we are not enough, that we cannot trust others, or that the same painful story will happen again? In this episode, I share personal experiences and reflections on how our inner narratives shape our identity, influence the way we see others, and ultimately impact the relationships we create. Because sometimes, the problem isn’t what is happening in front of us. It is the meaning we have learned to attach to it. The invitation is not to deny your past or pretend that painful things never happened. It is to become curious about the stories you have built around those experiences. What if you could honour what happened to you without allowing it to define everything that happens next? Perhaps the beginning of change is not another thing to fix, learn, or improve. Perhaps it starts with questioning the story. Welcome to another episode of the Heart Alignment Podcast. Let’s explore what becomes possible when we begin to see ourselves, others, and the world through a little more awareness, compassion, and truth. How to Stop Negative Thought Loops and Overthinking: Healing the Inner Child

How to Stop Negative Thought Loops and Overthinking: Healing the Inner Child Do you ever get caught in negative thought loops that seem to consume all your energy? You question yourself, overthink your relationships, and wonder whether you have done something wrong. When someone you love shows up feeling angry, distant or drained, you immediately make it about yourself. And underneath it all, you are just tired. Tired of overthinking. Tired of doubting yourself. Tired of wanting peace but not knowing how to find it. In this episode of the Heart Alignment Podcast, I share an honest, coaching inspired exploration of these patterns through the lens of inner child healing and somatic awareness. What if your negative thoughts are not the actual problem, but a symptom of something deeper? Together, we explore how old emotional stories can continue to shape the way we experience ourselves and our relationships. We look at the physical sensations that arise when we get caught in a loop, why certain patterns keep repeating, and how the parts of us that once learned to protect ourselves can still be running the show today. Most importantly, we explore how to find your empowered self again. How to question the stories you have been living by. How to stop automatically taking responsibility for everyone else’s feelings. And how to begin creating a new relationship with yourself and the people you love. This episode is a coaching session shared without the listener being present, so I cannot know exactly what resonates for them. But if you recognize yourself in this question, perhaps there is something here for you, too. You do not have to believe every thought you have. And you do not have to keep living inside an old story. Sometimes, peace begins when we get curious about what our patterns are trying to tell us. Listen in, take what resonates, and give yourself permission to write a new story. Grief, Aging & Letting Go: Why We Struggle to Accept Change

What happens when the person we used to be no longer feels like who we are? When a dream never comes true, our bodies change, or life takes us somewhere we never expected to go? In this episode of the Heart Alignment Podcast, we explore the quiet grief of aging, letting go of an old version of ourselves, and mourning the dreams that never became our reality. But what if the deepest suffering doesn’t come from what we have lost, but from our struggle to accept that things have changed? We can spend years trying to return to who we were, chasing a life we imagined, or measuring ourselves against impossible expectations. Meanwhile, life is asking us to meet ourselves where we are. I share a different perspective on grief, resistance, and the freedom that becomes possible when we begin to practise acceptance and unconditional love for ourselves. We also explore how the people around us, social media, beauty standards, and a society obsessed with youth can make it harder to embrace our natural evolution. Sometimes, the work isn’t simply learning to accept ourselves. It’s learning to set boundaries with the environments that keep telling us we aren’t enough. Because growing older isn’t a failure. Changing your mind isn’t a failure. Outgrowing an old identity isn’t a failure. And a dream that never came true doesn’t mean your life has failed. Perhaps the invitation is to stop fighting the person you once were, stop punishing yourself for the life you didn’t have, and begin loving the person you are becoming. In this episode, we explore: The grief of aging and saying goodbye to an old version of yourself Why resistance to change can deepen our suffering How unconditional self love can help us navigate life’s transitions Setting boundaries with social media, beauty standards, and people who struggle with our growth Using discernment to protect our relationship with ourselves as we evolve You don’t have to love every change. You don’t have to pretend that loss doesn’t hurt. But you can learn to stop abandoning yourself in the process. Welcome to the Heart Alignment Podcast.
