Shots brushed aside as Blues finally win two in a row [Aldershot Town (A) Review & Kidderminster Harriers (H) Preview] - Season 26/27, Episode 19

Two wins on the spin, six points in four days, and the Blues are finally building some genuine momentum! A clinical 3-1 victory on the road at Aldershot Town saw United back up the midweek win at Fylde in style, pushing us within touching distance of the top half of the table. A superb brace from David Ajiboye led the way, before Micah Obiero capped off a breathless 48-hour journey back from international duty with Kenya by coming off the bench to seal the points. Before diving into the match analysis, we run through the week's off-field news - including Hayden Atkinson extending his loan spell at Darlington, and an FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round draw that hands United a home tie against Tamworth. We then get stuck into the Aldershot debrief: can the squad now turn back-to-back wins into a proper unbeaten run? How much havoc did the fresh partnership of Ajiboye and Regan Linney cause in Georgie Kelly’s absence? And are supporters finally starting to see the very best of Teddy Jenks in midfield? From there, attention turns to Saturday's early 12:30 kick-off as Brunton Park plays host to Kidderminster Harriers for the first time in over 20 years. We examine how Harriers have adapted to Step 1 following promotion and losing their manager, highlight key threats like the experienced David Davis, and look at how United can keep their performance levels high. To wrap things up, we run through the usual ex-Blues round-up, before paying a (not particularly) touching tribute to Brunton Park's favourite pantomime villain, Harry McKirdy, following the announcement of his retirement. Lots discussed in this episode, including: 📰 News Desk: Hayden Atkinson extends his Darlington loan & heading to Tamworth in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round 🔴 Aldershot Town (A) Reviewed: Back-to-back wins, Ajiboye at the double, Obiero’s mad dash from Kenya, the Linney partnership & Teddy Jenks finding his groove 🦅 Kidderminster Harriers (H) Preview: First clash in two decades, early 12:30 kick-off, Harriers post-promotion, David Davis & maintaining the winning habit 🎭 Ex-Blues & McKirdy’s Curtain Call: Former players round-up and bidding farewell to our favourite pantomime villain after hanging up his boots Host: Lee Rooney (@leerooney (http://twitter.com/leerooney)) Co-Host: Mike Booth (@cufcmike (http://twitter.com/cufcmike)) ------------------------ 📲 Connect with us: X (Twitter): @bruntonbugle (https://x.com/bruntonbugle) Facebook: Search "Brunton Bugle" Instagram: @bruntonbugle (https://www.google.com/search?q=https://instagram.com/bruntonbugle) Email: bruntonbugle@gmail.com ------------------------ 🤝 Proudly Sponsored by CUST We’re delighted to be sponsored once again by the Carlisle United Supporters Trust (CUST) for the 2026/27 season. Perfect response for United as first clean sheet and away win takes some of the heat off boss Rob Elliot [AFC Fylde (A) Review & Aldershot Town (A) Preview] - Season 26/27, Episode 18

From Saturday’s crisis to Tuesday night relief in Lancashire! After the dark clouds of the Woking defeat, the Blues delivered the perfect response at Mill Farm, battling to a gritty 2-0 win over AFC Fylde to claim our first away victory and first clean sheet of the campaign, and taking some much-needed heat off Rob Elliot. Before getting stuck into the match debrief, we kick off with transfer news as defender Tom Anderson seals a return to Brunton Park for a second loan spell - more than a decade after his first temporary stay in Cumbria! We then break down an evening on the Fylde coast where substance firmly won out over style. We look at a disciplined defensive shift that heavily restricted the hosts, two clinical goals forged through relentless pressing and sharp counter-attacking, stand-out performances from Jack Ellis and Morgan Feeney, Regan Linney’s timely return to form, and another superb away backing on a Tuesday night. Finally, we turn our attention south to preview Saturday’s clash against surprise package Aldershot Town. Widely tipped for the drop in pre-season, the Shots find themselves sitting seventh in the play-off spots a quarter of the way through the campaign. Can their bewildering squad churn of 22 signings in and 23 out keep defying the odds? And can United keep a lid on in-form Tristan Abrahams, whose flying start to the season is in stark contrast to his miserable spell for the Blues a few years back? Lots discussed in this episode, including: 📰 News Desk: Tom Anderson returns on loan - over a decade on from his first Carlisle stint 🌊 AFC Fylde (A) Reviewed: 2-0 win debrief - first away win & clean sheet, digging in, lethal pressing, Ellis & Feeney shining, and Linney on song 🔴 Aldershot Town (A) Preview: Flying Shots defying pre-season predictions, 45 summer transfers & facing a resurgent Tristan Abrahams 🔄 Ex-Blues Round-Up: Catching up with former Carlisle players across the divisions Host: Lee Rooney (@leerooney (http://twitter.com/leerooney)) Co-Host: Mike Booth (@cufcmike (http://twitter.com/cufcmike)) ------------------------ 📲 Connect with us: X (Twitter): @bruntonbugle (https://x.com/bruntonbugle) Facebook: Search "Brunton Bugle" Instagram: @bruntonbugle (https://www.google.com/search?q=https://instagram.com/bruntonbugle) Email: bruntonbugle@gmail.com ------------------------ 🤝 Proudly Sponsored by CUST We’re delighted to be sponsored once again by the Carlisle United Supporters Trust (CUST) for the 2026/27 season. It's Groundhog Day... Again. What on earth now for United as a new-low is reached [Woking (H) Review] - Season 26/27, Episode 17

Just when you thought rock bottom had already been reached, Saturday delivered an unmitigated disaster at Brunton Park. Shipping five goals at home to a managerless Woking side in front of a stunned home crowd, the Blues collapsed to a harrowing 5-2 defeat - sparking furious boos at the final whistle and plunging the club into full-blown crisis mode. With supporters’ patience completely shattered, Lee, Adam, and Nick sit down for an uncomfortable, no-holds-barred post-mortem. We dissect 90 minutes of sheer defensive shambles against the Cards before tackling the massive questions hanging over Brunton Park: has Rob Elliot reached the point of no return? How much of the blame lies squarely with the manager versus the wider structural issues, including a lack of leadership from Sporting Director Marc Tierney? And is it high time the Piatak family broke their silence to address a rapidly deteriorating situation? Lots discussed in this episode, including: 🔴 Woking (H) Reviewed: An abysmal 5-2 capitulation debrief - defensive horror shows, conceding a John Marquis hat-trick, full-time fury & another Brunton Park nightmare 🔥 The Rob Elliot Question: Has he reached the end of the road? We debate whether he should be sacked, his tactical shortcomings, and how much culpability sits on his shoulders 👔 The Tierney Conundrum: Scrutinising Marc Tierney’s role, recruitment headaches, and the wider football operations at the club 🗣️ The Piataks' Silence: Do the owners need to front up, speak out, and provide much-needed clarity to the fanbase? 🔄 Ex-Blues Round-Up: Catching up with former Carlisle players across the divisions Host: Lee Rooney (@leerooney (http://twitter.com/leerooney)) Co-Hosts: Adam Tiffen (@AdamTiffen18 (http://twitter.com/AdamTiffen18)) & Nick Brown (@Nick_Brown86 (http://twitter.com/Nick_Brown86)) 🚨 Bonus Pod Alert: Looking for Behind Enemy Lines?
