Rethinking the Future of B2B Media with David Newcorn of PMMI Media Group
For decades, B2B media companies relied on a familiar formula: publish valuable content, attract an audience, and connect advertisers with potential customers. But what happens when AI changes how professionals find information, advertisers stop trusting traditional metrics, and readers no longer need another article? David Newcorn, President of PMMI Media Group, joins host Chris Mohr to explain why he believes the traditional publishing model is beginning to break down—and why the future of B2B media may depend less on producing content and more on helping people make better decisions.
Having helped navigate the industry's first digital transformation in the 1990s, David sees today's AI revolution as an even more fundamental disruption. He shares how PMMI Media Group is experimenting with decision-support tools, audience intelligence, and community building to rethink the value it provides to the packaging and processing industries. They also discuss why understanding who engages with content matters more than counting clicks, what AI can and cannot replace, and how David is encouraging employees to challenge assumptions and experiment with entirely new ways of working. Rather than pretending to know what comes next, he's building an organization where curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to fail are essential to finding the answers.
In this conversation, you'll hear:
Why David believes AI poses a bigger challenge to traditional B2B publishing than the arrival of the internet
How the advertising model is shifting from impressions and clicks toward identifying actual buyer intent
Why helping professionals make better decisions may be more valuable than publishing more articles
What PMMI learned from experimenting with new products that didn't resonate with its audience

The Role of Market Data in Modern Markets with Jessica Horsfall of Cboe Global Markets
Jessica Horsfall, Head of Market Data and Access Services, Europe at Cboe Global Markets, joins host Chris Mohr to discuss what she has learned after spending 15 years between exchanges and the customers who consume their data—and then crossing the table to work for an exchange herself. Originally trained as a linguist, Jessica sees market data as its own constantly evolving language, where exchanges, vendors, customers, and regulators can use the same words while understanding them very differently. She explains why those differences become especially challenging as technology, regulation, and customer needs evolve faster than policies and pricing models can keep up.
The conversation explores the changing European market data landscape, the arrival of consolidated tapes, the push toward extended trading hours, and the challenge of balancing broader access with the investment required to produce high-quality data. Jessica also explains why AI may change how data is consumed without requiring an entirely new licensing regime. Many AI applications, she argues, are new tools performing use cases already covered by longstanding policies around non-display and derived data—another example of why understanding the use case matters more than chasing the latest terminology.
In this conversation, you'll hear:
What Jessica learned after moving from the vendor side of market data to an exchange
Why exchanges, vendors, and customers can use the same terminology but still misunderstand one another
How regulation can produce unintended consequences when policymakers don't fully understand the market data ecosystem
Why Europe's consolidated tape could reshape access to and participation in European markets
How exchanges balance demand for more and cheaper data with the cost of investing in quality and infrastructure
Why growing global participation is driving demand for longer trading hours
Why AI may require market data licensing to evolve—but not be reinvented

Building a B2B Media Business Beyond Advertising with Joe Glionna of Newcom Media
Joe Glionna, President of Newcom Media, joins host Chris Mohr to discuss how a family-owned B2B media company evolves without losing sight of the audiences it serves. A third-generation publishing professional who started out licking stamps at the kitchen table, Joe shares how Newcom grew through a series of acquisitions, what he learned from integrating businesses much larger than his own, and why the company now thinks beyond traditional advertising toward events, continuing education, subscriptions, and other revenue streams. He also explains how Newcom decides when print still makes sense, why he prefers to be a “first follower” rather than an early adopter of AI, and how surviving COVID fundamentally changed the way he thinks about debt, cash flow, and leadership.
In this conversation, you'll hear:
Why Newcom Media is building new revenue streams beyond traditional advertising
What Joe learned from growing a 30-person family business through major acquisitions
How audience demographics help determine when print still makes business sense
Why continuing education has become a natural extension of Newcom’s trusted B2B brands
Why Joe is cautious about the long-term cost of AI despite being optimistic about its potential
How COVID changed his approach to debt, cash flow, and financial risk
Why transparency—and putting his own family first in line for cuts—helped his team navigate the company’s most uncertain period
