Here in the Calm Café, we're all about tranquility and relaxation, (along with maybe a soothing Chai Latté, or a hot cup of Lapsang Souchong).
Step in, take off your coat and melt into your favourite armchair. Here, you have nothing to do and nowhere to be. So, allow yourself to sink further into your chair and prepare to drift away.

Welcome to The Calm Café.
Tonight’s Night Pour takes place entirely within the café as steady rain rests gently against the windows and the outside world fades into soft, indistinct shapes. Inside, warm light holds steady over worn tables, quiet corners, and objects that have long since settled into place.
This is not a story to follow, but a space to drift within.
There is nothing to complete, nothing to hold onto, and nothing you need to remember. You may find yourself noticing the small details, the path of rain across glass, the texture of wood, the quiet presence of the room, or you may simply drift away before anything fully forms.
Either way, the café continues.
Settle in, and let the night pour unfold.

A Journey to the Centre of the Earth: Part 1 | The Calm Café | Sleep Stories & Guided Relaxation
A Journey to the Centre of The Earth by Jules Verne. If you listened to our last episode, in which we started The Count of Monte Christo, you’ll know that I’m using this podcast, in part, to start my reading of classic titles. Those books that always come up on a ‘Books to read before you die’ kind of list. A little morbid but I get the premise.

The Time Machine - Part 1 | The Calm Café | Sleep Stories & Guided Relaxation
Tonight we’re being treated to an excerpt of a favourite classic story; The Time Machine by HG Wells. Ah, the Time Traveller, The Eloi and all the tales that goes with it.
Over the course of a few episodes, my aim is to read the whole book. Partly as it was my bedtime reading for a while as a child and partly because I’d love to read it again and reading it for The Calm Café mean I can get away with it be for ‘research purposes’. Not that we should ever need an excuse to read. I find a book can transport me far away in a matter of moments. Which is lucky as we have 800,000 years to travel tonight.

Welcome to the first-ever episode of The Calm Café.
Here we focus on relaxation and sleep. Designed and delivered by Adam (a self-diagnosed insomniac with an almost uncontrollable mind), he knows what he's looking for from this type of podcast and hasn't managed to find one that suits him. So, although he can't drift off listening to himself, maybe you can.
