The Casting Faith Podcast

About The Casting Faith Podcast

Weird stories. Real faith. Honest conversations. Hosted by Charlie Griffin and David Hymes, The Casting Faith Podcast is a Christian podcast where weird-but-true stories, faith, fishing, family, humor, and real life collide. One episode might unpack bizarre history or a story that sounds completely fake but somehow turns out true. The next turns into conversations about testimony, fatherhood, outdoors culture, current events, and following Jesus in everyday life. Some episodes get deep. Some get hilarious. Some go completely off the rails. New episodes every Friday.

9 Hikers Vanished in Russia: The Dyatlov Pass Mystery | Ep. 105

Nine experienced hikers disappeared into the frozen Russian wilderness in 1959. Their tent was cut open from the inside, their boots were left behind, and some of their bodies were discovered with horrifying injuries. More than 65 years later, the Dyatlov Pass incident remains one of history's strangest mysteries. What could have terrified nine experienced hikers enough to run into freezing temperatures without their shoes? This week on The Casting Faith Podcast, Charlie Griffin and David Hymes explore the chilling Dyatlov Pass mystery, bizarre theories involving secret Soviet experiments and UFOs, and the question of what really happened on that mountain. But that's only the beginning! 🎧 WIRED HEADPHONES ARE BACK?! Bose is bringing back wired earbuds, sending us down a nostalgia rabbit hole of Walkmans, burned CDs, LimeWire, and the technology we grew up with. 💰 TAKE THE BAIT: Someone offers you $10 million, but an identical clone of yourself hunts you for seven days. If it catches you, it takes your place forever. Are you risking it? 🎣 BAIT OR PLATE: Strawberries dipped in mustard, banana and mayonnaise sandwiches, and hash brown ice cream sandwiches. Which ones actually taste good? ✝️ REEL OF THE WEEK: A South Korean Easter production takes Jesus' Ascension to some unbelievable heights! 🚂 A LITTLE BIT OF AMERICA: A kid on a bicycle, a passing train, and a moment that reminds us how special the little things can be. Plus, would you survive a 90-day power outage? Why are we still changing the clocks? And if you could take everyone back to the 1990s while keeping your memories of the future, would you do it? Through all the weird stories, laughs, and nostalgia, we close with a reminder that some things from our past are worth holding on to, especially faith, friendships, and the people who help us through life's storms. 🎙️ New episodes every Friday! ⭐ Enjoy the show? Flying Cars Are HERE?! Dire Wolves & Bait or Plate | Ep. 104

We’re finally living like the Jetsons. In Episode 104, Charlie, David, and Craig dive into Tesla’s wild flying-car technology, the now-grown “dire wolves” from Colossal Biosciences, childhood nostalgia, ridiculous hypotheticals, and the debut of our brand-new food challenge: BAIT OR PLATE? Would you rather rewind time 24 hours once a week or freeze time for one hour every day? Would you become a completely random animal for seven days for $10 million? And more importantly… does apple pie with cheddar cheese actually taste good? Then we somehow work our way from flying cars, Power Rangers, genetically engineered wolves, wildlife bridges, and terrible hot dogs into something that matters a whole lot more. The world keeps changing. Technology keeps advancing. But Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Sometimes our job is simply to be the bridge that helps somebody find Him. 🎙️ IN THIS EPISODE: • Tesla’s flying-car technology • Are humans actually ready for flying cars? • Colossal Biosciences’ grown-up “dire wolves” • Power Rangers, Voltron & 90s cartoon nostalgia • Rewind time vs. pause time • $10 million to become a random animal for seven days • California’s massive ant war • A pastor accidentally impaling his hand during a sermon illustration • Colorado’s wildlife highway bridge • The debut of BAIT OR PLATE • Apple pie + cheddar cheese • Peanut butter + pickles • Hot dog + marshmallow fluff + Fruity Pebbles • Hebrews 13:8, Mark 8:36 & becoming a bridge to Jesus ☕ BACKBONE COFFEE Save 15% with code CASTINGFAITH https://backbonecoffee.com/?ref=castingfaith&utm_campaign=affiliate_promotions&utm_medium=social&utm_source=affiliate (https://backbonecoffee.com/?ref=castingfaith&utm_campaign=affiliate_promotions&utm_medium=social&utm_source=affiliate) 💪 1ST PHORM https://1stphorm.com/castingfaith (https://1stphorm.com/castingfaith) 🏠 HERITAGE ROOFING https://roofsbyheritage.com (https://roofsbyheritage.com/) 🎣 GREAT LAKES FISHING EXPO https://greatlakesfishingexpo.com (https://greatlakesfishingexpo.com/) 👕 SHOP OUR MERCH https://castingfaithpodcast-shop.fourthwall.com (https://castingfaithpodcast-shop.fourthwall.com/) 📸 INSTAGRAM https://instagram.com/thecastingfaithpodcast (https://instagram.com/thecastingfaithpodcast) 🔗 ALL OUR LINKS https://linktr.ee/TheCastingFaithPod (https://linktr.ee/TheCastingFaithPod) Subscribe and follow The Casting Faith Podcast for weekly conversations about faith, fishing, hunting, real life, ridiculous stories, and whatever else we somehow get ourselves into.

Cam Mauk: Elk Hunting, Faith & Backbone Coffee | Ep. 103

Cam joins Charlie and David after his first elk hunt in New Mexico, and what starts as a conversation about hunting, fishing, coffee, and a 700-pound Colorado elk named Smash turns into one of the most meaningful conversations we’ve had on the show. Cam shares what it was like getting within bow range of a bull elk, missing his opportunity after his arrow clipped a limb, and why the experience still made the entire trip worth it. That opens up a bigger conversation about why hunting culture is changing, the pressure social media puts on outdoorsmen, passing the outdoors on to the next generation, and remembering that sometimes the experience matters more than the trophy. Casting Faith Backbone cofffee … Then the conversation takes an unexpected turn toward faith. Cam gets vulnerable about prayer, church, learning to surrender, and the simple prayer he finds himself repeating throughout the day: “Lord, be with me.” Charlie and David talk about pursuing God the same way we pursue the things we love outdoors, continuing to seek Him even when every experience looks different. Casting Faith Backbone cofffee … And somehow all of that leads to one of our new favorite Casting Faith lines: “Fish your own river.” Casting Faith Backbone cofffee … Plus: Backbone’s new single-serve coffee pods, the smart coffee maker moving a ridiculous amount of network data, hunting hypotheticals, Florida Man vs. Ohio Man, and plenty of rabbit trails along the way. 🎙️ The Casting Faith Podcast Hosted by Charlie Griffin & David Hymes New episodes every Friday.
