About The Casual Critics

The Baker Take Podcast is hosted by Becky and Presley Baker, mother and daughter duo, who have lively conversations from surprisingly similar perspectives despite the age difference – although they do disagree occasionally. They believe that most people are interested in stories on multiple subjects. The pair dive into some of today's most interesting and current topics on culture, entertainment, sports, politics, life, love, and more, unfiltered, and somewhat funny, showing how all things are relative.... literally. Every other Thursday, episodes will drop to entertain guests who will love the banter while hopefully learn something new. Surprise guests join in the fun from time to time. Don’t miss the “Baker Take.”

Political Investigations, Presidential Punchlines & Parents Gone Wild!

Political investigations, presidential rivalries, viral moments, and a little ballroom horror! This week on The Baker Take™, we’re covering the headlines that have everyone talking. Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing renewed scrutiny over reported immigration-related questions and amended financial disclosures. With federal investigators reportedly searching her Washington residence, we look at the allegations, the changing financial figures, and what happens when the tables turn on a politician who has repeatedly insisted that no one is above the law. Meanwhile, President Trump is crisscrossing the country ahead of the midterms, while Barack Obama is back on the campaign trail taking shots at Trump’s White House renovations. One joke about Saddam Hussein and a Cheesecake Factory sparked an unexpected response from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. And with Cheesecake Factory stock soaring, is the restaurant chain getting the last laugh? Speaking of Trump’s renovations, we’re looking at the controversy surrounding the gold-covered statues in Washington, D.C., including the history behind their original gilded appearance. Plus, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz gets heated during a confrontation over Cuba, and we’re asking the question: When did kids’ sports become a battleground for out-of-control parents? We’ve got videos that show just how ugly things can get. Then it’s time for Dancing with the Stars Horror Movie Night, featuring jaw-dropping performances, a perfect 40, and some shocking results as two couples head home. Politics, controversy, comedy, and a few things that make you wonder what happened to common sense.
