This is how the Club Penguin empire FELL, working with Disney & more with Chris Hendricks: game developer & composer | CONVO S2E2

In this episode we have Chris Hendricks, former developer for Club Penguin, a once independent company, they launched the MMO back in 2005. In 2007, it was acquired by Disney until its last days in 2017. Today we will talk about how it was to work on such an amazing product like Club Penguin, the development of the game, Hendricks tasks while working for Disney, and how ultimately Club Penguin ceased to exist. This was an episode I recorded over a year ago, and seeing it now, I would change a lot of things. I was nervous, maybe rusty with my English, but I still wanted to post it here. 007 | A conversation with David Rieder, Mayor of the City of Clarksville, Arkansas

Clarksville is a small city, but we can certainly agree that it is growing and in development. I had the honor to talk with David Rieder, Mayor of the city of Clarksville, Arkansas, to talk about his life, career, and how he has paved his path to being a Mayor. We also talk about how he deals with challenges that Clarksville is facing right now, such as housing issues, and how he manages criticism from decisions he has taken, such as shutting down every public space during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We also talk about the evolution he has seen in Clarksville in the two terms he has been serving as Mayor, position that he has held since 2019. Is he planning to run for a third term? He gives a clear answer on this topic. Mayor Rieder's vision with Clarksville is to influence positively not only Clarksville, but the whole River Valley area, and that is why I asked him the role of a small city like Clarksville in a broader aspect, and how is the city relationship's with other neighbouring communities. With small cities such as Clarksville there is always a dilemma on whether growing and developing the city or keep it small, and this is a big question for a city like Clarksville as well, and how to keep that "small-city charm" while keep developing the city and growing in opportunities for all the people that lives here. Mayor Rieder gives his perspective on this and many more interesting topics. You can follow all of our productions, included "The CDRB Show" by following our Instagram page as @cdrbproductions. He has been working at Ozarks for almost 27 years, and we talk about how his job has evolved from the first years, how he was the only person in charge in Ozarks in jobs that nowadays are done by six or seven other staff at the university, about how he, along with a then Walton Scholar designed the first website for the University of the Ozarks. Also, we will talk about his career as journalist, and his interests and work in Sports Information, the ethics in journalism and how polarized information is these days, and about ChatGPT and how it could change the landscape in the communications field, and whether or not this field is in risk of being substituted by Artificial Intelligence (AI). 005 | A conversation with Dr. Nathan Eric Dickman, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Ozarks

In today's episode I had the pleasure of talking with Dr. Dickman, in what is until now the longest episode of the show! I honestly don't know how did I believe that this was not going to be the longest episode so far, but it was so worthy! So many questioning about different things... are grades important? what really matters in life? A podcast that makes and doesn't make sense, all in one episode. We also talked about the life of Dr. Dickman, his background and how he ended up working at the University of the Ozarks, through his career and academic path, and among other curiosities, why does he call himself as "Aspiring troublemaker & Antiracist". 003 | A conversation with Nicole England, Walton Scholarship Program director at the University of the Ozarks

In today’s episode, we talk with Nicole England, the actual Walton Scholarship director working at the University of the Ozarks to talk about her life, background, curious facts about her life, family and education that led her to her actual job positions, but also to talk about several important topics such as the scholarship itself and its impact in the lives of the scholars, how the impact of the scholarship is measured both by the Walton Foundation, and by Nicole as the director, and whether or not the scholarship is truly impacting our countries in a positive way. We also touch base on how involved is Jim Walton, Walmart co-owner and the main head behind the Walton International Scholarship Program, how Walton scholars are selected and what criteria they use, and topics that concern Walton scholars, such as an increase in the monthly allowance and the retention of the transcripts for four years after graduating. The Walton International Scholarship Program started back in 1985, amidst the fight between powers in the Cold War. According to their official website, "During a trip to Central America in early 1985, the Waltons learned Central American students were being recruited to colleges in the former Soviet Union. They, however, believed it was critical to expose Central American students to the virtues of democracy and capitalism. In May of 1985, the Waltons responded with a donation to three respected, faith-based Arkansas institutions – Harding University, John Brown University and University of the Ozarks – to fund scholarships for students in each of the seven countries of Central America and later, Mexico."
