About The Chameleons Podcast

Season 2: The Emeritus Human knowledge advances through the transfer of explicit and implicit ideas and knowledge. In this new podcast series, we meet influential figures from across psychology. By tracing their scientific journeys, we explore not only what they discovered, but how they learned to think, how they came to ask the questions that mattered to them, how they pursued answers, and how they became part of, and helped shape, the intellectual traditions in which they work. Host Imac Zambrana is an associate professor of cognitive psychology and a cognitive developmentalist. These conversations with some of the greats in psychology aim to provide a fuller sense of how we know what we know about our species. Language: English Music by: Håkon Onsager. We are experiencing a technological shift with an enormous potential for advances in knowledge and solutions for individuals and society. This requires extraordinary human agency and ability to adjust to the changes and navigate this unknown territory together. This is why this podcast is called The Chameleons – as a tribute to our incredibly malleable nature. Host Imac Zambrana is seeking input from a group of international and Norwegian experts and advocates from tech-relevant fields concerning their thoughts about the potential of different interplays between technology, individuals, and societies. These conversations about real and fictional meetings between human and machine in the past, present, and future, are an invitation to reflect on how we can adjust for what might, what will, and what might never come. The Emeritus, #1. Paul Harris: The role of imagination and others

In the first episode of The Emeritus, I speak with Professor Paul Harris of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a leading figure in developmental psychology. We discuss his academic journey and his influential work on children’s emotional development, imagination, and learning from the testimony of others. I hope the conversation offers a richer sense not only of his research, but also of the ideas, experiences, and collaborations that have shaped his remarkable contribution to the field.

#19 A poetic Psy-Phi Saga: A Memoir From The First AGI – with Dave Jilk

In this episode, we sit down with Dave Jilk, an author and former serial entrepreneur with a unique blend of experience in the software and startup world. These days, Dave dedicates much of his time to writing, recently releasing his latest work, Epoch: A Poetic Psy-Phi Saga. This science fiction novel, uniquely written as an epic poem from the first-person point of view of an AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), offers a fresh and realistic take on how AGI will likely come about. It explores how AGI might be developed based on our understanding of the development of brains, intelligence, consciousness, and purpose, what it might do, and its potential impact on humanity. The book delves into some profound questions about AI alignment and what it means to be human, making it a must-read for anyone curious about how artificial superintelligence is likely to emerge. In this interview, we dive into some of the central topics from Dave’s new book. I also hope this interview can offer a glimpse of how brilliant ideas can arise by combining one’s interdisciplinary interests, expertise, and pursuits. I am excited to share this insightful conversation, and I hope it inspires the listeners as much as it did me!
