The Chatty Runners is a podcast hosted by Dan, Sophia and Andre — three everyday runners sharing marathon experiences, training insights, race stories and plenty of humour along the way. From big‑city marathons to local events, we explore what keeps us lacing up, laughing, and chasing the next challenge.
New episodes, new stories, same chaotic energy.
Episode 10 - Run Brum: Imagining the Birmingham Marathon
What would a marathon in Birmingham feel like? We map out a dream route past the city’s most iconic spots — Old Joe, the Jewellery Quarter, Edgbaston Stadium, Cadbury, Bournville and more — and talk about why the city’s sporting heritage makes it the perfect host.
This episode is all about imagination, identity, and the miles that could bring Birmingham together.

Episode 9 - How We Watch Athletics: From the Olympics to the Nationals
A deep dive into the way athletics is actually seen — the cameras, the commentary, the storytelling, and the chaos — across every level of the sport. Dan, Sophia and Andre break down how coverage shifts between the Olympics, World Championships, Europeans, Nationals and the Commonwealth Games, exploring what each gets right, what each gets wrong, and how broadcast choices shape the fan experience.

Episode 8— Orange Running Guy: Community, Courage & Carrying On
In this episode of The Chatty Runners, Andre and Dan sit down with Ross — better known as Orange Running Guy — to talk about his incredible journey since taking up running in 2025 to improve his physical and mental health.
From his first parkrun to tackling Endure 24, Ross has embraced the runner lifestyle with honesty, humour and determination. We chat about what it’s like navigating the sport as a self‑described “larger gentleman”, how he’s risen above negative comments, and how he’s built a community that has his back every step of the way.
Sophia pops in for the warm‑up and cool‑down questions, tackling the big debates:
Do you choose trainers based on look and colour?
If you go on holiday… does your running kit come with you?
It’s an episode about resilience, belonging, and the joy of finding your people.

Episode 7 - Nine Running Influencers who we think are great
This week we each bring three running influencers who genuinely make us better runners — creators who motivate, educate, and keep the sport fun. From technique tips to race‑day chaos, we break down why these nine voices stand out in a crowded running feed.
In the warm‑up, we share the single piece of running kit that changed our running the most — shoes, tech, and tiny bits of gear that made a huge difference.
For the cool‑down, we offer the one piece of advice we’d give every new runner so they don’t have to learn it the hard way. Simple, honest guidance from runners who’ve been through it.
Perfect for anyone looking for running inspiration, creator recommendations, or practical tips to make running feel easier.

Expect honest stories, a few laughs, and plenty of practical advice from our own experiences.

Episode 4 - How We Choose Our Races (and Train for Them)
In this episode of The Chatty Runners, Andre, Sophia and Dan talk about the many ways we train, how we pick our races, and what actually goes through our heads when we line up at the start.
We also share our thoughts on running in the heat (spoiler: it’s not glamorous), debate what we’d least like to eat mid‑race, and — as usual — cover plenty of things we didn’t plan to.
It’s sweaty, silly, and surprisingly insightful — just how we like it.

Episode 3 — Majors, Superhalfs and European Classics - Are they just marketing hype?
In this episode of The Chatty Runners, Andre, Sophia and Dan dive into the big talking point of the week — the expansion of the World Marathon Majors, the rise of the European Marathon Classics, and the whole SuperHalfs series.
Are these genuine pathways for runners… or just very clever marketing? We get into it.
We also chat about our proudest running moments, from breakthroughs to personal victories, and take a detour into the world of fancy dress running — the good, the bad, and the “why did I think this was a good idea”.
As for weekend hopes:
We hope Andre doesn’t fall in the canal,
we hope Sophia’s nails turn out perfectly,
and we hope Dan finally gets to sit down for five minutes.
It’s runners talking running — with plenty of laughs along the way.

Episode 1 — London, Seville, Manchester: Three Marathons, One Chatty Podcast
In our very first episode of The Chatty Runners, Andre, Sophia and Dan sit down to unpack their marathon adventures from this year — London, Seville and Manchester. Three cities, three very different races, and three runners with plenty to say about training, tapering, and what actually happens on the day.
We kick things off with Five Easy Questions to warm up the legs (and the brains), before cooling down with the big one:Which celebrity would you most like to run with? The answers: Kevin Hart, Tom Cruise and Stanley Tucci… but who picked which? You’ll have to listen to find out.
We also chat about our weekend plans — including whether one of us is about to end up in a regency costume, looking windswept, dramatic, and possibly a little too committed to the bit.
Only one way to find out. Press play and join the chat.
