About The Christ Centred Cosmic Civilisation

Christ is the One in Whom in all things consist and humanity is not the measure of all things. If a defining characteristic of the modern world is disorder then the most fundamental act of resistance is to discover and live according to the deep, divine order of the heavens and the earth. In this podcast we want to look at the big model of the universe that the Bible and Christian history provides. It is a mind and heart expanding vision of reality. It is not confined to the limits of our bodily senses - but tries to embrace levels fo reality that are not normally accessible or tangible to our exiled life on earth. We live on this side of the cosmic curtain - and therefore the highest and greatest dimensions of reality are hidden to us… yet these dimensions exist and are the most fundamental framework for the whole of the heavens and the earth. Throughout this series we want to pick away at all the threads of reality to see how they all join together - how they all find common meaning and reason in the great divine logic - the One who is the Logos, the LORD Jesus Christ - the greatest that both heaven and earth has to offer. Episode 178 - The Rule Of The Logos And The Lost World Of Guild Mastery

Who actually keeps a nation running? Not the grand symbols, not the speeches, not even the ballot box, but the people who make bread, teach children, mend bodies, keep fair measures, build bridges, and uphold justice. We start with a simple pressure-point: if the monarch sets direction and the bishop safeguards faithfulness to Christ’s Kingdom, who governs the ordinary life of towns and trades, the markets and courts, the schools and hospitals? We reach back to a largely forgotten strand of ...

Episode 177 - Church And State In Christian Harmony

Politics changes character when we stop pretending there is only one kind of authority. We argue for an older Christian political theology that refuses both theocracy and secular privatisation: the doctrine of the two hands of God. Drawing on Irenaeus, we show how the Father works through the Son and the Spirit in a single, coordinated rule, and why that matters when Christians talk about church and state today. From there we move into the classic language of the tradition: sacerdotium and i...

Episode 176 - How A Bishop Held A Christian Ruler To Account

A Roman emperor orders a massacre, then turns up at church expecting to take Communion as usual. Instead, a bishop stands in the doorway and says no. That single moment between Ambrose of Milan and Emperor Theodosius forces a question that still haunts Christian public life: what do you do when a “Christian” ruler behaves like a pagan one, and who has the right to call power to repentance? We start with Eusebius and the dream of a Christ-centred civilisation after Constantine, where empire a...
