"Eleven, Honey! A Celebration of Us, You & Everything In Between"

Episode 11 | The Christian & The Drag Queen We are officially in the double digits — and we are CELEBRATING. In this milestone episode, Travis and Danielle take a breath, look back at the wild, beautiful, sometimes chaotic journey of building this podcast from a tiny village in Upstate New York, and get a little emotional about what it's all become. We're playing our first-ever Podcast Superlatives (think yearbook awards meets the Grammys meets pure chaos), counting down ten things we've each learned since we started, and reading some listener messages that honestly had us both undone in the best possible way. We also pull back the curtain on what's coming next — guest episodes, new segments, Caz Pride Fest 2026, and the big dreams we're not afraid to say out loud anymore. If you're new here — welcome to the family. If you've been here since the beginning — we owe you brunch. This is the episode we made for you. Share it with someone who needs to know they're not alone. Stay curious. Stay kind. Stay fabulous. 🎙️ Subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & iHeartRadio📲 Follow us @TheChristianandtheDragQueen

   "Almost Didn't Hit Record"

The Christian & The Drag Queen S.01 Ep.10 "Almost Didn't Hit Record" Danielle’s (www.instagram.com/synbormama) not here this week, which means nobody prayed over this episode. The Valley!), a raw conversation about mental health and suicidal ideation, the story of the show he almost canceled that became his best performance in years, and listener questions that made him cry in his kitchen. Plus: Law of Attraction, the Caz Pride (www.instagram.com/CazenoviaPride)evolution, music recs, and a reminder that showing up messy is still showing up. If nobody’s told you today, you matter. Truth in Love

Tired, overstimulated, and secretly annoyed by harmless things? Same. Let’s laugh about it, without losing our humanity. A drag queen + a Christian walk into a podcast… Ever been irrationally annoyed by something completely harmless and then felt guilty about it? In this episode, we’re giving you permission to be petty… lovingly. Because those eye-rolls and tiny irritations? They’re not character flaws, they’re nervous system signals. Join Travis (the drag queen) (www.instagram.com/anitabuffem) and Danielle (the Christian) (www.instagram.com/synbormama) as they share their wonderfully wonky pet peeves, get a surprise visit from Beauty Starlet Anita Buffe,, and explore why humor, without harm might be the most compassionate thing we can offer each other right now. This isn’t about being better people. It’s about being more honest people. And when we can laugh together about the small stuff, we get braver with the big stuff. Featuring: kale chip confessions, dishwasher philosophy wars, and the phrase “love on someone” (we have thoughts).

   Pt. 2 Sequins, Mascara, & Middle-Aged Confidence

What happens when a Christian mom and a drag queen sit down to talk about fear, misinformation, and why a man in sequins became a threat to democracy in a small town? They can't stop. Literally. Part 1 wasn't enough. Welcome back. What happens when a Christian mom and a drag queen (www.instagram.com/thechristianandthedragueen) sit down to talk about fear, misinformation, and why a man in sequins became a threat to democracy in a small town? They can't stop. Literally. Part 1 wasn't enough. Welcome back. In Part 2 of "Sequins, Mascara, & Middle-Aged Confidence," Travis (www.instagram.com/anitabuffem) and Danielle (www.instagram.com/synbormama) pick up right where they left off — with a wildly dramatic "Previously On" recap that sounds like Dynasty meets a Lifetime movie trailer, and a fake pharmaceutical ad for a product called "Never Meet, Only Fear" that might be the most accurate satire you hear all year. Then it gets real. Travis and Danielle dig into the conversations most people avoid: What is drag, really and where does it come from? What's the actual difference between Drag Story Hour and meeting Cinderella at Disney World? Why does "grooming" get thrown around by people who've never spoken to a drag queen? And what does it look like to parent with curiosity instead of fear? Danielle shares how her faith didn't shrink when she befriended a drag queen — it stretched. Travis opens up about what Anita Buffem really represents: not a costume, but the loudest truth that survived. And together, they explore what happens when a small town decides that glitter is dangerous and fear is a substitute for knowing your neighbor. This episode is funny, sharp, and deeply human. It's for anyone who's ever been afraid of something they didn't understand — and for anyone brave enough to stay at the table anyway. Featured in this episode: - The return of Anita Buffem (and her opinions about teacups) - "Never Try, Only Buy" and "Never Meet, Only Fear" — two fake ads that hit disturbingly close to home - A faith perspective on God's creativity and why human diversity isn't an accident - Real talk on Drag Story Hour, parenting choices, and dismantling misinformation - The history of drag from Shakespeare to ballroom culture to your local library New here? Start with Part 1 — but honestly, Anita would want you to just dive in. Follow, subscribe, and share this with someone who needs it — whether they're curious or afraid. Because fear grows where curiosity stops. Stay wonderfully wonky — and love louder than lies.

EPISODE 7, PART 1: "Sequins, Mascara, and Middle-Aged Confidence: Drag, Fashion, and Learning to See Each Other"

What do a JCPenney catalog, an antique teacup, and a drag queen named Anita Buffem (www.instagram.com/AnitaBuffem) have in common? More than you'd think. In Part 1 of this two-part episode, Danielle (www.Instagram.com/synbormama) and Travis get personal - really personal - about bodies, aging, fashion, and what it actually means to show up as yourself in a world that has opinions about everything. Danielle shares her journey from "low-maintenance on purpose" new mom to a woman learning to take up space in boardrooms (and finally admitting that maybe lowlights are a form of grace). Travis pulls back the curtain on drag, not as costume or controversy, but as craft, history, and survival. Along the way, they tackle: Why shapewear is basically infrastructure The surprisingly emotional story of a teacup and a paper cup What drag and fashion have in common (hint: it's not sequins) And the moment Travis knew Anita wasn't a mask - she was his loudest truth This episode is for anyone who's ever felt too much, too different, or too tired to keep explaining themselves. It's for the people navigating midlife bodies, changing confidence, and the slow work of feeling at home in their own skin. No debates. No gotchas. Just two unlikely friends having the kind of conversation most people avoid. And yes - Anita Buffem makes an appearance at the end to roast everyone. Because of course she does. Part 2 drops next week - where they dig into misinformation, fear, faith, and what happens when your small town decides a man in sequins is a threat to democracy. Stay wonderfully wonky, and love louder than lies. Follow, subscribe, and share with someone who needs this conversation.

"Chosen Family: When Someone Claims You Before You Know It"

The Christian and The Drag Queen (https://www.instagram.com/thechristianandthedragqueen/): S.01 Ep.5 "He's my friend but he doesn't know it yet." That's what Danielle (www.instagram.com/synbormama)'s husband said the moment he saw Drag Super Star Anita Buffem (www.instagram.com/AnitaBuffem) (Travis, a drag queen) he'd never met at their small town's first Pride festival. This is the story of how that declaration became the truest thing he ever said. In this episode, we go back to the very beginning: a dinner invitation that could have been awkward, a four-hour conversation that changed everything, and a secret Travis kept hidden for years (yes, it involves gas). But this isn't just our origin story. It's a conversation about what "chosen family" really means, especially for LGBTQ+ people. We talk about the AIDS crisis, when 324,000 Americans died and chosen family buried them because biological families wouldn't. We talk about why, for queer people, chosen family has never been Plan B. It's how we survived. Whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community, a person of faith wondering if bridge-building is possible, or someone who's ever felt claimed by an unexpected friend — this episode is for you. In this episode:→ The real story of how a Christian mom and a drag queen became family→ What "chosen family" means and why it matters→ How to build friendships across difference→ The fart heard 'round the friendship (yes, really) You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll want to call your own unlikely friend. Content: Chosen family, LGBTQ+ history, unlikely friendship, faith and queerness, allyship, origin story

"THE LONG WAY HOME" Travis's Origin Story: From Cazenovia to the School Board

Episode Summary "THE LONG WAY HOME" Travis's Origin Story: From Cazenovia to the School Board In this deeply vulnerable and triumphant origin-story episode, Travis shares his journey from a bullied kid in small-town, rural conservative Cazenovia, using humor as survival, to becoming a thriving New York City drag performer, a survivor of spinal cord injury, a caregiver, a community leader, and now Vice President of his local school board making him the first drag performer to be elected in the U.S. Through storytelling that is raw, funny, and profoundly human, Travis reflects on identity, disability, mental health, the law of attraction, chosen family, caregiving, and the unexpected ways the Universe reroutes our lives. Danielle and Travis explore what it means to rebuild after loss, to find purpose in unlikely places, and to come full circle, creating belonging for others where there once was none. This episode is a reminder that you are not too late, not too broken, and never alone, we’re all just love looking for a place to land.

Love at a Distance on Christmas: Forgiveness Without Access

This Christmas-week episode goes to one of the tenderest places in the human story, what it means to forgive someone without necessarily reopening the door to your life. Danielle and Travis talk honestly about loving people who’ve caused harm, the grief of choosing distance during the holidays, and the difference between forgiveness, reconciliation, and safety. They explore how faith, boundaries, and self-compassion can coexist even when the cultural pressure to “go home for Christmas” feels overwhelming. Together, they reflect on: • when forgiveness is an act of healing, not access • why “love your neighbor” doesn’t mean “ignore your limits” • the complicated ache of missing people who aren’t safe • how to hold grief and joy in the same season Then, shifting the tone for something lighter, Anita joins the episode with her very own Gift-Giving Guide a playful, heartfelt, and occasionally ridiculous tour through meaningful gifts, gestures of love, and the joy of showing up for the people who do feel like home. This isn’t a story about closing doors it’s about learning when to keep them gently, lovingly cracked from a distance. Honest. Brave. Compassionate. A Christmas episode for anyone carrying love and boundaries at the same time.

    Sister Act….ually it’s Danielle.

In our second episode, meet Danielle—our resident Christian, mom of four, and the calm, compassionate counterbalance to drag, glitter, and unapologetic queerness. Danielle shares who she is, what her faith means to her, and how an unexpected friendship with Travis grew into something deeply meaningful. Together, they talk about how this unlikely connection became The Christian & The Drag Queen, why leading with curiosity matters more than being right, and how laughter can open doors that judgment never will. This isn’t a debate podcast. It’s a relationship podcast—rooted in honesty, humor, and showing up authentically, even when it’s uncomfortable. Honest, funny, and a little unexpected—this is where it all begins.
