Episode 12 Four AI Resources for Christian Educators
In this episode I share four trusted AI resources for Christian educators to grow in wisdom and confidence, because the pace of change is not slowing down. I also covered brief AI news, including Anthropic's latest model update and a three year initiative to provide free AI literacy training to six million U.S. educators. My four resources are the ChatEdu podcast, Ditch That Textbook by Matt Miller, the Shake Up Learning Show by Casey Bell, and the Teacher Edition Podcast CyberSense AI series by Jenny Copeland. I encouraged you to pick one resource and make a simple four week learning plan. I also invited you to try an AI prompt to build that plan.

Episode 11 It Doesn't Think, It Calculates: Teaching Students the Truth About AI
In this podcast I ask what AI really is, not the hype, and why we must help students see the line between machine prediction and human thought in God's image. I share AI news that emotion linked patterns can shape model behavior, and I note a Gallup poll that shows about half of Gen Z uses generative AI at least weekly but more are skeptical about learning. I explain three points, AI reflects human input, processes patterns to predict likely outputs, and we need proper perspective. I then offer four practical moves, use better language, explain what the model does, compare AI to humans, and keep the tool vs giver distinction clear.

Episode 9 The Importance of Real Connection in an Age of AI Companionship
In this episode, I explore the critical question of why AI companions can never replace the God-designed community we were created for. I discuss recent concerns about how teens are increasingly turning to AI for emotional support, highlighting that this trend can lead to a dangerous substitute for genuine relationships. I emphasize the importance of teaching our students about real connection versus digital imitation, urging educators to cultivate environments that foster authentic community. Additionally, I recommend reading "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt to better understand the impact of digital life on our students. I encourage you to reflect on your classroom culture and consider how we can guide our students toward healthier relationships.

Episode 8 When Truth Can Be Faked: Holding Fast to God's Word in an Age of AI Illusion
In today's episode of the Christian Educators' AI Guide podcast, I addressed the critical issue of how we can help our students hold fast to God's unchanging truth amidst the pervasive deception created by AI technology. I shared recent developments, such as Spain tightening consent rules on deepfakes and the U.S. Senate passing the Defiance Act, highlighting the urgency for Christian educators to teach discernment rooted in Scripture. I emphasized that truth has a source in God and that we must equip our students to be truth-seekers, not just fact-checkers. I also introduced the SIFT method for evaluating online information and provided a prompt for creating a classroom activity focused on biblical discernment. I encourage you to share this episode and implement these strategies in your teaching.

Episode 07 Is AI Playing God?
In this episode of the Christian Educators AI Guide podcast, I address a significant concern among many believers: the fear that AI might replace God. I share findings from a Common Sense Media report indicating that 75% of U.S. teens have interacted with AI companions, with one-third finding these interactions as satisfying or more so than with friends. I emphasize that while AI can simulate empathy, it cannot replace the true connection we have with our Creator. I encourage educators to teach students about God's sovereignty, model discernment, and keep technology in its proper place. If you're feeling overwhelmed by these discussions in your school, I invite you to reach out so we can explore how to navigate this together. Episode 06 No More Teachers, No More Schools?
In this episode, I explore the intriguing idea that AI might soon take over the role of teaching, making traditional classrooms and educators seem outdated. I pose essential questions about what makes human teaching unique in an age where machines can provide explanations for almost anything. My goal is to help Christian educators understand how to redeem AI for educational purposes. I encourage you to reflect on these questions and consider the implications for our teaching practices. Episode 05 Teaching from the Heart: Engaging Students Beyond Regurgitation
In this episode, I reflect on the critical question of whether our students are truly learning or merely regurgitating answers. I challenge us as educators to consider what it means to teach from the heart rather than just focusing on grading. If you've ever pondered these questions, you're not alone, and it's essential for us to engage in this dialogue. I encourage you to think deeply about our teaching practices and how we can foster genuine understanding in our students. Let's commit to being more than just assessors; let's be transformative educators. I referenced one educator's comments on REDDIT. Episode 4 Protecting Student Data Privacy
Summary In this episode, I explore the concept of stewardship regarding our students' data, particularly in the context of AI tools. I raise critical questions about how we, as Christian educators, can protect the sacredness of our classrooms and the privacy of our students in an increasingly data-driven world. I encourage you to reflect on these issues and consider the implications of our data practices. Your thoughts and actions on this matter are essential as we navigate these challenges together. Ask me five questions to help determine whether this AI tool respects student privacy, models honesty, and aligns with biblical principles of stewardship and neighbor love. After I answer, summarize my responses into a one-paragraph 'Stewardship Statement' for our faculty handbook.
