During this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival we sat down with veteran Scottish actor John Hannah to discuss his uninhibited performance in the wild first-person POV action-comedy Bad Day at the Office.
In the film, Hannah plays the mysterious Karl Davis, a man who wakes up in a London hotel with a dead man in his bathtub. Karl has no memory of who he is or how he got there, and he has little time to work it out as men are coming to the hotel to kill him. What ensues is an absolutely relentless action flick that's full of wild fight scenes and daft humour.
We sat down with Hannah on the morning after Bad Day at the Office’s world premiere at Edinburgh Film Festival to have a chat about how he got into acting in the first place. We also talk through some of the highlights of Hannah's career and his go-for-broke performance in this absolutely bonkers action film. Take a listen.
Bad Day at the Office is scheduled for theatrical release in UK on 30 October from Signature Entertainment.

Edinburgh International Film Festival 2026: The Education of Jane Cumming, Goodbye Cruel World and The Peril at Pincer Point
Ahead of Edinburgh International Film Festival kicking off on 13 August, Ellie, Peter, Jamie and Anahit have got together to take a deep dive into three interesting-looking titles in the programme. First they take a trip back to 19th-century Edinburgh for The Education of Jane Cumming, a true-life story that inspired the classic 60s queer drama The Children’s Hour. It’s then off to France for Goodbye Cruel World, a beautifully shot film that begins as a story of teen bullying and depression before morphing into a dreamy coming-of-age romance. And things then take a turn in our kooky third film, The Peril at Pincer Point, which follows a feckless sound recordist searching for unique field recordings on a strange island.
We also pick out some other picks from the festival and get a bit too animated about an unlikely inclusion in the programme: Michael Bay’s delightfully ludicrous action thriller The Rock. We’ve something for everyone, literally!

The Odyssey plus the Best Films of 2026 So Far
The Odyssey, the biggest film of the year in every sense, has rolled into town. Christopher Nolan's epic has been receiving rapturous reviews from critics and packing them in at the cinemas on its opening weekend; now the CineSkinny team weigh in.
And in terms of this week's theme, we were slightly uninspired, but we did notice that the Earth was now over halfway round its yearly rotation of the sun. Therefore, we thought it was a good time to take a little stock of film in 2026 and pick out our favourite movies from the year so far.
