The City Club of Idaho Falls is an independent, nonpartisan forum for discussion of public affairs. Forums are recorded and rebroadcast on KISU-FM 91.3
What challenges are facing Idaho, and what kind of leadership will shape the state’s future? At the October 15 Idaho Falls City Club forum, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terri Pickens and independent candidate John Stegner shared their perspectives on the issues affecting Idahoans and their priorities for the state.
Moderated by City Club board member Mick Oman, the discussion covered housing affordability, state budgeting and accountability, public education funding, school choice, water resources, data center development, public lands, nuclear energy, and access to healthcare in rural Idaho. Both candidates discussed their concerns about the direction of state government, offered ideas for addressing Idaho’s challenges, and explained why they believe their approach to leadership would make a difference.
The forum provided an opportunity for community members to hear directly from the candidates, consider their policy priorities, and engage in the kind of thoughtful, civil dialogue that is central to the Idaho Falls City Club’s mission.
The Idaho Falls City Club is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering critical and civil discourse on matters of public interest.
