[…] It's not a private individual therapeutic strategy. That's not biblical forgiveness. The Gospel of Luke says, maybe one of the first passages that we would go to would be Luke 17 that says, pay attention to yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him. And if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in the day and turns to you seven times saying, I repent, you must forgive him. So that is the basic paradigm that, or Jesus says in Matthew 18, if your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault just between the two of you. Don't widen the circle. Don't expand it. And if he forgives, I'm paraphrasing, or if he repents, rather, I'm paraphrasing him here, receive him. […]
