About The Golf Parent
Helping parents raise great junior golfers, on and off the course. The questions are the ones junior golf parents ask on the drive home. What do you say, and not say, after a bad round? How do you build confidence that lasts? How does college golf recruiting work? What does it take to earn a D1 golf scholarship? We ask tour coaches, sport psychologists, NCAA Division 1 coaches and tour pros. Guests include Justin Thomas's dad and coach Mike Thomas, Collin Morikawa's longtime coach Dr. Rick Sessinghaus, LPGA Tour winner Megan Khang and 2025 PGA Teacher & Coach of the Year Jason Baile.

And the good news is we treat mental game and course management decision making as a skill that you can learn. Whether you're born with some personality traits that make you more likely to be good at it or not, you can learn it. And we teach it. So I'd say you need good technique. The whole industry has gotten better. We've gotten tons better. You have to close the gap on performance and skill. And then nothing beats playing a lot, just like in every sport. […]
