பாரம்பரிய நெல் ரகங்களில் மாமருந்தாகப் பயன்படும் ரகம் கருங்குறுவை. சித்த மருத்துவத்தின் முக்கிய மூலப்பொருட்களில் ஒன்றாகக் கருங்குறுவை அரிசி பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. நெல் கறுப்பாகவும் அரிசி சிவப்பாகவும் இருக்கும். 4 அடி வரை வளரும்.
கஞ்சி, இட்லி, தோசைக்கு ஏற்ற ரகம். கருங்குறுவை சாதத்துடன் மூலிகை சேர்த்து லேகியம் செய்து சாப்பிட்டுவந்தால், யானைக்கால் நோய் மட்டுப்படும். கருங்குறுவை அரிசியில் குஷ்டத்தையும் விஷக்கடியையும் போக்கும் சக்தி உள்ளது.
இந்த அரிசி மிகக் கொடிய வியாதியான காலராவை மட்டுப்படுத்தும். கருங்குறுவை அரிசியை மூலிகைகளுடன் சேர்க்கும்போது, வீரியம் அதிகரிப்பதுடன் கிரியா ஊக்கியாகவும் செயல்படும்.
