Ep. 18 - Heist-Styles Of The Rich And Famous
In this episode of The Heist, we investigate three shocking robberies involving three global superstars: Kim Kardashian, Drake, and Daddy Yankee.
First, we travel to Paris in 2016, where Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint inside her luxury residence during Paris Fashion Week. Disguised as police officers, the robbers forced their way inside and escaped with millions of dollars in jewelry, including her famous diamond engagement ring. The crime sparked a massive international investigation and became one of the most infamous celebrity robberies in modern history.
Then we head to Toronto, where a young Drake was robbed at gunpoint in 2009, losing valuable jewelry and cash. Years later, another bizarre theft would strike Drake's tour operation when approximately $3 million worth of jewelry was stolen from a tour bus in Phoenix.
Finally, we travel to Spain, where reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee became the victim of a sophisticated hotel jewelry theft. More than $1 million worth of watches, chains, and bracelets disappeared from a hotel safe, leading to a lengthy legal battle over how the thieves gained access.
Fame may make you rich and recognizable—but sometimes it can also make you a target.
This is The Heist.
