About The I just fell into Financial Planning Podcast

Hello and a very warm welcome to the I just fell into Financial Planning Podcast, I’m Jamie Bradbury the host of the podcast. I started out as a recruiter specialising within Financial Planning in 2010 and I’m still doing the job today (should be fairly useful when interviewing people fingers crossed). In that time I’ve spoken to thousands of people in the profession. I love finding out people’s stories and what gets them excited. Join me as I speak to to guests about their careers within Financial Planning and how they ultimately ”fell” into the profession finding out what makes them tick, what they have been successful at and maybe things that they could have done differently, along with a whole host of topics within the profession. My ultimate aim is to get value for you in the profession with my content whether you are a Financial Planner, Paraplanner, Administrator in Compliance or any other role within the profession having some fun on the way.

   What Footballers Actually Earn, and Where It All Goes | Jamie Proctor from Skybound Wealth Management

   You have heard the stat about footballers going bankrupt. I open the episode by saying I don't believe it (did my best Victor Meldrew impression). The real problem is quieter, and it starts the day the football stops. So I sat down with Jamie Proctor from Skybound Wealth. He played professionally for sixteen years across sixteen clubs, from the Premier League down to the EFL, studying for three degrees on the team coach along the way. He is now a Private Wealth Adviser and the first adviser in Skybounds Athletes and Creators division, which means he is the adviser he wishes someone had put in front of him at nineteen.    How to Sell Your Financial Planning Firm Without Regretting It | Vicky Hicks from Melo

   Everyone selling a Financial Planning firm obsesses over the multiple of EBITDA or Recurring income. Almost nobody prepares for the Monday morning after. So I sat down with Vicky Hicks from Melo, who has been on both sides of this. Shestarted in financial planning at 22 after being made redundant from Northern Rock. She worked for a Financial Planning firm in York working her way up to becoming a Director of the firm before selling along with her partners her stake in the business. That sale is what pushed her into M&A. She's done around a hundred transactions since.
