From 1984 to 1994, Granada Television produced what is arguably the best (and most complete) depiction of the legendary detective's Adventures, Memoirs, Case-Books and many Returns. Spanning 36 episodes and 5 movies, producer Michael Cox created a Sherlockian experience like no other. This podcast will examine that timeless series with a specific eye on Jeremy Brett in the role he was destined to immortalize.

Probably best known to Brettons for his role as Sir Reginald Musgrave in The Musgrave Ritual, Michael acted in numerous roles in film, TV, radio and on the stage including A Passage to India, Game, Set and Match, and notably, Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back, as Captain Needa.  Later in life, he was known for being a staunch anti-war activist and supporter of the well-known peace campaigner, Brian Haw. 

 Michael Culver died on February 27, 2024 at the age of 85.

[…] Then, after nine years in television, He left it all behind, moved to Birmingham, and turned his attention to repertory theater, which had become his true passion, mainly due to his love of working closely with actors and audiences. However, after nine more years of pure theater, he found he did miss the world of television, and he returned to the medium, focusing on bringing theatrical plays to television via the likes of BB winning in 1970 for his work on Flame of Knowledge, an episode of the series Scene, and also garnering a nomination in 1986 for his work on the Browning version. Perhaps his biggest success came in 1989, when he joined the team of The Bill, a police procedural that would run for 16 years, with Simpson producing or directing 185 episodes between 1989 and 2001.
