Episode 98: Let’s Talk Against the Current Ep. 1–30 | Slow Burn, Sharp Writing & Surprisingly Great Characters
Somehow, the big family melodrama we thought might be boring has become one of our most addictive watches of the year. Through episode 30, we talk about what makes Against the Current 兰香如故 work so well, from its slow-burn storytelling and quietly capable heroine to its complicated relationships and unexpectedly effective romance. Plus, we hand out a few very unofficial awards of our own.

Episode 97: Great Potential, Messy Payoffs | The Early Spring, Blossom Through the Cloud & Pull Strings Wrap-Ups
We finished The Early Spring 早春晴朗 , Blossom Through the Cloud 飞到我心上, and Pull Strings 师兄太稳健—and now comes the reckoning. Did The Early Spring do enough to sell us on that second chance? Is Blossom Through the Cloud’s very cute CP enough to overcome its messy storytelling? And why did Pull Strings suddenly reveal real emotional stakes… before ending with a finale that had us flashing back to Doctor Who?

Episode 96: When the Tropey Romance Works Better | The Early Spring & Blossom Through the Cloud Midway Check-In
Two workplace romances, two faithful novel adaptations, and two very different reactions. In this pod, we talk about Chinese dramas “The Early Spring” 早春晴朗 and “Blossom Through the Cloud” 飞到我心上. “The Early Spring” is beautifully shot, polished, atmospheric and compelling to watch, but we're struggling with one rather important thing: the central romance. “Blossom Through the Cloud” is lower-budget, tropey, occasionally ridiculous, yet somehow much easier for us to buy as a romance.
(00:32) Introduction
(01:53) The Early Spring: Beautiful, But Is the Romance Working?
(17:25) Blossom Through the Cloud: Tropey, Fun & Surprisingly Convincing
