[…] And then, of course, on the other side of the Atlantic, you have North American, more commonly called buffalo bison, essentially. of which there are two remaining forms. They're not a distinct species, but you have the plains bison, which is this bulky swart thing, very heavy, hugely humped. And then in the north of Canada, you have wood bison, which are just astounding looking things. And if you speak to people who are terribly interested in bison, now they will tell you that they're more akin possibly to bison priscus than anything else. So there's huge angular humps that go straight up behind their head and they come right the way down to the tail, which is an adaptation for clearing snow. […]
