[…] And over six years of hosting, a majority of my stays have included pets and it's been great. So damage protection plan and our deposit is likely too high. 1600 is well over what we hear is common for a furnished finder rental, even with a three bedroom. All of my properties have a thousand dollar deposit. I started it at 2000 when I first became a host, quickly realized I was returning the deposit 99% of the time. So it allowed me to lower the deposit and become more competitive in my marketing. In a recent survey, we heard that more than half of tenants have skipped a rental because the deposit was too high. 71% of tenants say any deposit over $1,000 feels unreasonable, which reminder, they are moving around months at a time and have to put a new deposit down. before they've even received the previous deposit, not knowing if they're going to get the deposit back in full.
