And it was three years ago that I published the story about it Now that we could not find another example of this across the nation, of course these things were set up as alternatives to prison But instead people were ending up there who were not in prison to begin with strictly to pay off their court fines and fees And debts that they were working at McDonald's and their whole paychecks were being taken by the Department of Corrections to pay off their debts Which meant that because they were sentenced they're not for an amount of time but for an amount of money that it was an open -ended prison sentence Depending on how quickly you could earn money I'm sorry this is still going on?
