[…] So let's start right away just talking about what is speaking in tongues. So speaking in tongues in the New Testament is considered to be one spiritual gift among many. Like every gift given by the Holy Spirit, it is given by grace for the good of the church. It is not given as some sort of a proof that one is a more spiritual Christian than another one. So, Paul asks this question, right? Do all speak in tongues? It is a rhetorical question in 1 Corinthians 12, and the answer expected is, of course, no. Tongues cannot be required of every believer or serve as some sort of evidence of the Holy Spirit in a person's life. […]
