A restless, breathing thing. Instinctively, Caro's gaze travelled downward. At first he thought the tide had risen around the island in the night, unusual for this time of year. Then the darkness shifted, and he realised what he was looking at. Crabs. The beach below the cliffs was alive with them, shifting and squirming, scuttling over one another in their bid to escape the surf.
