What’s it actually like running the biggest magic wholesaler in the world?
What’s it actually like running the biggest magic wholesaler in the world? In this episode of the Slightly Twisted Podcast, Allan from The Sleight Co and Luke from Twisted Minds Magic sit down with Austin Murphy, CEO of Murphy’s Magic, for a proper behind-the-scenes conversation about one of the most influential companies in the magic industry. And we pretty much ask him everything.Austin tells us how Murphy’s Magic started, how his father went from knowing virtually nothing about magic to building the company into the world’s largest magic wholesaler, and what it’s like for Austin to now be running the business. We get into how Murphy’s decides which tricks to back, why the magic market has become increasingly saturated, how they decide whether to manufacture a few thousand or 10,000+ units of a product, and what happens when a release doesn’t sell.Austin also explains the thinking behind Murphy’s premium packaging, the difference between Murphy’s Magic, Murphy’s Studio and Murphy’s Legacy, and why those brands are beginning to change. Edit-02---Luke-Austin-Allan.txtWe also talk about the unusual relationship between Murphy’s and some of the biggest retailers in magic, what the future could hold for the company, and whether Murphy’s would ever consider selling directly to magicians. Austin reveals that retail is something they’ve considered — although doing so would fundamentally change their position within the industry.PLUS… 👀Austin gives us an unexpected early look at the unreleased Evolution Wallet from Javier Fuenmayor and Murphy’s Magic — before it had even launched. If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes of the company supplying magic shops around the world, this is a fascinating look at the business behind the magic.Featuring:Austin Murphy — CEO, Murphy’s Magic🎩 Magic products, creators, retail, wholesaling, new releases, the future of the industry… nothing was really off limits.Subscribe for more episodes of the Slightly Twisted Podcast and more conversations from inside the magic industry.🌐 https://thesleight.co.uk/ (https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUM4Zm9rUlBKQ0FjenVkUDhldHd2cnNrbXBiU3xBR3JiS2FuUng2dl9XY3UydUNJUE9pVnE1VHFYbl9UOVluMnR0dTVmdWRaaG1xVDZXUWE2WHEyN3JkNGlCMHpXTGtLY1FxTDJJZWNGN3paSkJ4R3BNODFsWHJ2d0xvMTRpekV6&q=https%3A%2F%2Fthesleight.co.uk%2F&v=soQzeouWQ_I)🌐 https://twistedmindsmagicshop.co.uk/ (https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUM4Zm9rU3Jrajd2TC1qLThKeGphamI3RW5ZanxBR3JiS2FrNVJEWGJ5Z0U2cnBpRTBLYWVlbjMyN01CVkFnYjJEa1hBQ1p1d0J0clpaRHRnQ1h0Y08zbWRUN3FQUmRXU3RYSUFTeUxFLW4tT2VMUWp4eFh5elNQbUVXYTdpTzE0&q=https%3A%2F%2Ftwistedmindsmagicshop.co.uk%2F&v=soQzeouWQ_I)Follow us for updates, releases, and behind-the-scenes content:📸 Instagram: / thesleightco (https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUM4Zm9rVDJKdmRXXzUwS2lTNGpGNURzSmdPYXxBR3JiS2FsM3Z2SWZULWZWNHNkZ09Iamt1S1pUc2I0d3h6Vkh3SFZDOVY0Z2VsN0poaHg4NkR1X2V3VUxWZXF6VXdIM1picUZDbzJzeE45cWxjRTJkNW1TUGtSOTBOSmpJeWRN&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fthesleightco%2F&v=soQzeouWQ_I)📸 Instagram: / twistedmindsmagicshop (https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUM4Zm9rU2d3VkhueTRlUVUtQUk3T2l4a2N5M3xBR3JiS2FuUzEyWFlsdnJPUHc5UWotdzFCajdsZkhsTk5VaGhmTXh3TVoyNVdhVkxkeGVHbGdVY2VVdU96cmprRGEtUHNmY1FYb1RYN0hZSktKZ1RMU05yNHVMRmJ4YUUtRHVj&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Ftwistedmindsmagicshop%2F&v=soQzeouWQ_I)

Did you steal my commercial EDC trick?
We’re back for Episode 3 — and somehow you’re still here 😅 This week we talk all things Blackpool… despite not actually being there. From the FOMO and sales dips to the dealer stands that genuinely impressed us, we break down what stood out from the convention and which releases caught our eye. We also dive into unexpected bestsellers in the shop, hidden gems that deserve more attention, and whether magic reviewers are actually helping or just being too soft. There’s a proper rant about what “commercial” really means in magic, plus a discussion about overhyped products and how to decide what’s actually worth your money. We answer your listener questions too, including our “Mount Rushmore” of impromptu magic and the playing cards we actually use in the real world. And we get into something every creator deals with at some point , working on an idea… only to see something very similar hit the market before you. If you’re into magic, the business side of magic, creating your own effects, or just honest conversation about what’s really going on behind the scenes, this episode’s for you.
