[…] Correspondence says that Rule 611 delivers meaningful investor protections, while the savings from rescinding the rule remain uncertain, and repeal could shift money from beneficiaries to intermediaries while weakening price transparency and accountability. CI's letter also includes the following four additional reasons for not rescinding the Rule 1. Provides an automatic price protection backstop, while best execution standards rely more heavily on broker judgment and documentation. 2. Existing market connectivity costs may persist, even if Rule 611 is repealed, and any savings could be outweighed by investor losses from inferior execution prices. […]
