France is just recovering from the First World War. Fascism and Nazism are on the rise in Europe. It was the year, Mikhail Gorbachev, the future leader of the USSR (formerly Russia), was born. It was also the year Céline Gadbled, my grandmother, was born. So how do you become a woman when the notion of women’s rights is just an abstract concept? What is the life story of a 91-year-old woman?
