So that's the claim for an equity efficiency trade-off. Let me add a couple of points. It's not always obvious that that's a trade-off. For instance, if what we do is we take money from the rich, but it could be from lots of people, and put it into early childhood education. Early childhood education has enormous returns. Every dollar we put in, we get more than our dollar back as a society as a whole. So that's a case where by making the world more equitable, giving everyone who's – every kid who's born a real chance – We also make the world more efficient. […]
